This time of year is always nerve-wracking in the UP of Michigan. Normally I cover my plants when the frost starts but this year I couldn't. We got hit 3 frosts in the last week, first night was down around 29/30 degree range then two in a row 5 days later, around 32 degrees. The girls made it ok, first picture is September 18, the second is September 29. As you can see they lost alot of leaves, and still more dead ones take off. It definitely is not ideal, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Some of mine have 3+ weeks to go..
They changed the forcast.
Looks like only a chance of frost around day break.. no freeze tonight..

Hey there. Upper Midwest outdoor grower here too. Any notes taken in the past re: temperature thresholds for your plants? We're about to see some seriously cold overnite temps where I'm at for 1-2 nites in a row before things level out again. My plants have, in some cases, a week to 10 days to go before they'll finish. I've seen 29F overnite already this year and the plants seemed unaffected. However, we have lows forecasted in the low 20s by the end of this weekend. I'm gonna try n put together a makeshift ridgeline w/ t-posts and heavy gauge wire to carry a sheet of heavy poly but I wonder if it's a fool's errand with those temps. On a related note, any varieties you've found to reliably finish with our cold, Midwest Autumns? I'm having good luck w/ a Bruce Banner Fast I bought from Cannagenetics but am eager to hear other suggestions. Thanks for your time.. and nice looking plants! I miss the U.P... I lived there for some time. Truly a gem unbeknownst to most in the country.. although MN's North Shore is lovely too I hear.. ;)

Say, got any hard numbers re: the temps your plants survived? We're looking at lows in the low 20s for 1-2 nites by the end of this weekend. Just trying to gauge what sorta hopes I have of my crop surviving. I'm gonna cover my plants but those temps are intimidating! Thanks..

Unfortunately I don't have any hard numbers. One morning it was 29 at 8 am, there was ice on all the buds. Fan leaves took a major hit, probably losing 75% of them. It was in the mid 60's sunny the following day. I did notice my northern lights and og kush( indica's i believe) rcovered faster than my Cinderella 99's (sativa). If you have the option to cover them, I would. Wish I had more info, good luck.

It hit 26° just before daybreak afew days back
