from veg to flower 36 hour

I've heard that its good to reset the plant's internal clock by giving in 36 hours of darkness before switching to the 12/12 light cycle, is this a true/effective idea to make them show pre flowers faster?

I just tried that this time around, but it still took em a week to show sex so idk if it really works or not. I can tell u that with mine, once the lights came back on finally, the leaves were pretty droopy for a day or so.
