the 5 is the choice for MJ just remember that it MUST be at least 30 inches away from the canopy and not on more than 30 minutes, 15 minute spurts is best, longer (or closer) and it will burn your plants

I remember you saying the 5 was best, but I was thinking about it overnight, and if I go with the 2, can the canopy be closer than 30"? I'm at 20's already. If the 2 won't work, I'll just keep with this bulb. Which I may do anyway.

yes the 2 can be closer (obviously) but in my research there was little or no benefit seen from a 2 which was why the 5 was said to be the best option, the 10 just burns em

All I know is I've used a HPS from start to finish and it was one of my best gardens. With later gardens I added a MH but didn't notice any difference regarding plant health, yield, potency, etc. The 400W MH was used when they were small, then I added in a 600W HPS, and as I harvested (reducing the footprint by moving the side reflecting panels back in) I took out the MH.

Have fun ~

Subbed. I am very interested in the results of using UV-B lamps to increase THC production. Just been reading Ed Rosenthal's newest book and have been learning about this. Want to add a couple of ReptiSun 5.0 lamps to my grow to aid in this. Will be watching and learning! :)

I may have to take a trip to my local reptile/pet store today and grab up one of the 5.0 UVB Spiral CFL bulbs.

i think your golden with lighting in that thing now daniels. the only thing you could possibly add is a 42 or 68 watt CFL in the bottom section. but that is only to have spectrum from each type of bulbs. still, you have plenty of stuff in there to make the best possible bud. cant wait for the smoke report on the differences between the 2 fridges.

dont the CFLs have a little UV also?

Well Gumball, you gave me an Idea. Not for this crop, but later. The middle Intake, I considered another intake fan, but now I think it sucks so much air in, a fan would be pointless, or just fail. I could rig a Cfl for lower lighting, or another different bulb to test something else, where the 4" PVC is.
Here's more Pics from today. Overnight these two showed they have buds on the way. You can see how much they have grown, by that thermometer taped to the back from the pic just above.:leaf:

So I was watching CMH go off, then the HPS, and then Heat Lamps start. I got to looking at them, I've been thinking this for a couple days. The Plant under CMH (#4) is stretching more the #3 under the HPS. Wattage is different and feeding/Silica are not purely even, & I switched nutes. Far from anything other than it makes sense as the blue of the CMH might be it. This pic is cropped to show what I mean.

there is a clear difference in the 2. the right side is definitely taller. one would think the one under the lower wattage HPS would stretch stretch more than the one under the highter wattage bulb.

is the internodal space bigger on the cmh plant cause it does not look to be in the pic (from what I can see) ? I would say it is just the extra growth that they say CMH causes? I could be wrong but but like the bit in my thread where Dave was noticing stretch and thinking it was the IR, I had the same exact stretch with em under the CFL's in veg and there is no IR in there

what are the heights? I would imagine internodal differences could be 10-15% before it would be noticeable as such

Their 'sunrise' just started, and full lights on is in about 10, so I'll look closer and get a better pic.

This pic shows better. The very front right cola is taller, and it's the furthest away from HPS. and IR. The close ups kinda show. I'll switch them today when #3 gets feed.

Both are looking very nice man. I do agree the #4 is stretching, and I agree its most likely because of the mH.
