Fridge Grow

Hi, the only way to really remove the gas to avoid venting to atmosphere is to reclaim it. This involves hooking the fridge up to a reclaim pump and a recovery tank. The pump will suck the gas out of the fridge and pump it into a tank. It's not really something you could do yourself without investing in the equipment to reclaim it which costs a fair bit of money, far too much for a one off job really. Another option would be to contact a local refrigeration/air con repair shop who maybe happy to do it for you for a small cost, how much they would charge I have no idea but it shouldn't be too much as the amount of refrigerant in the system will be tiny.

Sorry I couldn't come up with a free fix but reclaiming is the legal and responsible way we do it really. Having said responsible way, the laws in many countries are a bit daft regarding this as the base gas in most modern fridges is usually found in aerosol cans as the propellant and millions get vented everyday. A bit of a hot topic in some circles.

edit... just read your post a bit better, there is no way to remove the fridge workings without disturbing the gas.

Here's what it will look like after 40 days of flower :p

Ive tried to make the
pull out section
more obvious and tied down the mesh so it stays level under the pressure of the upward growth :bigjoint:

wow you sparked a thought into my mind now.what if you were to instead do it with an old freezer that sits in the garage ya know what i mean where the top is the lid. then you can hook up a row of t'5s that fit the lights right to the lid that opens.then take the bottom out so its deeper.you could fit a couple plants in there and it would look like a normal fridge and you can drill exhaust ports on the back of it and seeing how the back is to the wall no one will know the difference....all of these ideas can def be made into larger stealth grow setups.

I wanna use this old fridge/freezer rather than building another grow cab u see the thing about a wooden box in your garage is it looks conspicuous... also i think the fridge will seal better than a wooden box stopping them smells escaping for all to smell..

and yep it's only 18" wide x 18" deep.. I'm hoping that a couple of plants will scrog ok in it.. but it might not be enough space??

That is some real odd dimensions.... My box is 24" wide and 15" deep and I can't fit more than two full grown plants. Maybe with scrog you could get away with two but three seems to me it might be pushing it. Good luck and keep us posted!

i don't know how high you are Tom but i never suggested 3 plants, and i do realize 2 might be a struggle :-P:-o i don't smoke much these days so 2 growing should be fine for my needs.
