So I found a nice thick sheet of good stainless steel that was wider than my cutout but didn't quite reach front to rear.
I got one edge up under the foam on the floor and arced it up in the middle and got the other side to slide in just under the foam and finished it all around with 2 layers of metal foil duct tape.
THAT sure looks a lot cleaner.

Looks good fish
Im curious tho how long to u plan to use the clear tote?
I used one to start my dwc adventure last year and it being clear led to some problems.
I will cover it from wall to wall with the insulated car shade reflector material even better than I did on the first run.
Like so... except the net pots will be cut into the top. then I can seal it all around the edges with the aluminum tape.

Do you guys think it should be totally light sealed?
In other words, should I paint the sides black?
I don't want ANY little thing to cause a problem this time.

only thing that can cause a problem is if light gets to the solution it can help aid in algae growth, I know some guys report algea in clear plastic tubing that is exposed to the light, I for one am hoping you keep it clear so we can see the root growth thru the side of the tub when you have the door open

I am most likely gonna paint it black on the sides.
We will still get to see the roots as I have to make a trap door in the car shield to get at the drain, so I will just make it large enough to get the camera in there for a pic or even a short instavid or something.

I got the tray finished and ready for hookup.
Had tot put a brass elbow on the feed rail to make the turn.
Bolted the aluminum brace under the tray, and then located and installed the drain.
I plan on putting enough 1/2" hose on so I can take the whole res out of the freezer area without disconnecting.

Now I can take out that chincy white tube brace I had in there.
This will give me great clearance for removing the top off the cooler.
I removed the hinges so it just sits on top and it is fairly heavy with a rubber seal.
I will leave the 4 corner brackets underneath.
Should be plenty strong.

i noticed in the photo that shows the underside of your drain in the freezer that you had to add ceiling braces to hold up the weight of the upper res, was the floor flexing after you cut into it?,
great job on the plumbing, looks professional .
I also like how you put plate covers on your electrical outlets, just seeing that is making me up my work quality on my wardrobe, tuck the wires, cover the boxes, besides, I think having everything routed and tight makes for less headache in the middle of the grow, great planning, I am checking out that bulb , its not as bright as your 400 watt? or is it? do you have a lumens comparision?

Yea,
The floor was only thin plastic.
When it has all that styrofoam attached to it, it is strong.
The 315w bulb will be much brighter than MH/HPS, but the big diff is the color spectrum.
One bulb for veg and flower.
