Ok ive been having probs with the "tiny black flys" for a few week now, and im determined not to spend any money on anything to kill them off..
Ok heres a few FUN ways to keep the numbers down
1, Put a saucer under your drip tray, Pour a very small amount of beer into it and watch em get drunk and drown
2, Wrap some sellotape and wrap it arround your pot with the glue side facing outwards, within a day or so it will be covered in em, all dressed up with nowhere to go ha ha
3, cover the top of your pot with sellotape with the glue side facing the soil, roll up a piece of sellotape with the glue on the inside and insert it into the sellotape covering the pot. Every day when the new flys hatch they will either get stuck to the underside of the tape or try to fly or climb up the "tube of glue" and head to the light, but won't make it
4, Introduce a spider to your room, (most scamper off) but the odd one with a brain will stay and feast on your unwanted guests
I have all the above in operation and the problem has gone from a swarm to a few flys buzzing about
Good luck
Feel free to add any of your ideas on how to demoralise and wipe out the litte bstards!
