it's not really free, you already pay for, apparently. found this new app that lets your 3g android phone act as a wifi router for free. it has an option to hide the tethering, so your phone provider won't know you are using it as an router. although they will still see the usage. i have unlimited data with sprint. for the hotspot plan they charge 20 for 2 gig, and 50 for 6 gig of downladed data. what a ripoff. my cable company charges me 70 for just internet, 30 meg/s advertised download, but it tests at around 17.

so anyway, i been using this on 3G speed nad it works great. i have an htc phone, which has a wifi block, but is still able to use the usb cord plugged to computer, and bluetooth, if your computer has it(a dongle for bluetooth is 15 bucks).

it seems to work great, surfing blogs and checkin email is damn near as fast as the wifi router on cable. watching youtube vids works good also, especially if you give it a minute to load(20 seconds).

check it out, all you guys on phones, will be able to wifi or usb cord to a laptop, puter, or tablet.

my htc offers a mobile hotspot for 10 bucks a month that can run 5 device will this work better?

Some android devices, such as some official google nexus phones allow you to turn your phone into a wifi hotspot for free. It's somewhere in the wifi settings

As far as phone service goes I've recently moved over to straight talk. Basically unlimited everything for 45 a month. If you get the 3 month pre-paid it goes down to like 41.50. Moved over from T-Mobile, I actually get better service. I think they use the Verizon pre-paid network.

I recently gave up cell service altogether, went with google talk and grooveip over wifi. Getting used to driving without calling folks takes some time but overall free is nice.

that makes two of us professor.. i lose them all te time to have over 50 bucks invested in my phone.. it sends messages and makes calls thats about it.. i can take ok pics with it.. but like my digital camera better. adn then if/when i lose my phone im not bummed i just hope i can finnd one with the same charger so i dont have to buy new car/wall charger
