The flushing is gonna help to get rid of the salt built up which I think is a determinant factor in the health of the plant. Since you already cut the nuts, I would flush once. The weight technique is kinda hard to explain since it consists in weighting the container by hand and get the feel of the weight in different stage. After a while you actually know if the plant need water or not, if the bucket feel dense and heavy, the plant has plenty of moisture, you're good. If the bucket feels empty and light, the soil is probably detaching from the wall, you water. Get used to read your ladies, look if they are down (sad) or wide open with the leaves going upward (happy). The shape, aspect, colour and touch of the leaves says it all. Be careful because sometimes and after watering, they pump a lot and leaves are kinda heavy, generally after a while moisture evaporate and they go wide open. Don't worry after a while, you'll get it ... like everything in life, it takes time and patience to be consistent.
Keep these sticky leaves and when you have a lot, make some bubble hash!
btw, I use drip clean from house garden with every feed or water and my girls seems to like a lot!
