What do you guys think of these:

Are they even Cree? And if so, is that model dated or what, cause I can't seem to find the datasheets or any info on them.

I've tried stevesleds, but the shipping fee is way out of the question. Looking for Luxeons on ebay and alibaba as well.
They might be Cree LEDs. You're looking for XP-E far red, order codes XPEFAR-L1-0000-00501 or XPEFAR-L1-0000-00601. I can't tell they're genuine from a picture. And if so, they're probably the lower bin.

Yesterday I received the 2x 10 watt Taiwan Epileds (730nm) that I bought on ebay, shipment was faster than anticipated. I have build them in a cheap 10 watt flood light and used another driver to drive 2 of those lights.
To switch the lights on when the white lights are shutting down, I use a low-tech solution (timer) because I am not that technical at this moment. I would like to use the design of churchhaze, but that must wait a few months when I have more spare time. Tonight the lights will be used for the first time, I am very curious about the results.

I actually don't use my own design because I'm a lazy stoner.. lol.. I use sync up 2 timers as well, which is less than ideal. I guess I should spend some time working on that timer... I do have all the parts...

I ordered "a few of each" of the 74HCxx series on digikey. Someone there must hate me, but now I have all the cmos logic glue I need including gates, counters, shift registers, multiplexers, etc.. a lot of it is useful for gluing micro-controller circuits together.

Well, this is just my second grow. Never knew plants could grow so fast, I am still amazed when I see them after a day. Things are looking good. Last year I messed up my outside garden with vegetables:wall:. So I have a lot to learn. But with an inside garden, I know its all about mimicking the good things nature has to offer the plants. I am just using the available data to try to speed things up and increase efficiency. The reports on Google Scholar helps a lot and will continue to read those reports.

Yeah, I'm gonna check out that google scholar thing too... Church, your setup is a bit complicated for my skills, but I would like to learn about those things, I guess they would be useful for any electrical appliance in the growroom. A couple of things come to mind, for instance a self-water timer for when I am away from home, an automatic co2 release valve and obviously an infra red light timer! But what are the "brains" of your circuits called? The programmable things? Are they essentially small programmable multi-switches or what?

This question made me grin. There is nothing programmable. It's cmos (transistors). You could probably make something cheaper and more straight forward with a microcontroller circuit. The design was meant to be a brute force solution to the problem.

Most problems aren't solved that way anymore, but I figured it didn't need any more complexity than a counter and some logic gates. You have to enroll in a strange cult just to understand what any of it means.

But what are the "brains" of your circuits called? The programmable things? Are they essentially small programmable multi-switches or what?

Has anyone here tried using 730nm during the day after the stretch period is finished, as well as the pulse after lights out? I have a significant amount of 730nm power I could be using during the day.

I've been thinking about this one recently... After the stretch is finished, is there any reason not to have the 730nm on with the rest of the lights, because I could easily set my timers to do this. It wouldn't be much of a controlled experiment if i tried.

I have a feeling it wouldn't cause any stretch if the stretch period was completely finished, but would it benefit?

Based off my reviews of other's trials, 730nm isn't useful during the day although it exists in sunlight. I shouldn't be commenting because I understand only a fraction of the material concerning the use of 730nm but I can say that I used it before after lights out and I believe it to be of some beneficial value to a given grower.

Experiments suggested that it causes stretch, but not at what period of the growth. I could not find an experiment where 730 nm was applied after the first stretch was over. So please try.
