Why so hostile and the same goes for eveyone picking on a noob? Thats what this site is for, to ask questions and learn from smart good growers, not people who feel superior to a noob cause of the mistakes we make! Shame on all y'alls!

i'd never give my plants miracle grow you scrub.... might try some clones with them just to veg faster

Whay does cooking the soil outside good for and how long should you let it cook?
cooking the soil kills off any bugs, bug eggs, fungus, bacteria anything in your soil. You will lose all the nutes in your soil as well when you bake it, so make sure you have nutes ready for your girls. Usually people cook their soil at like 200F for 30 minutes to 2 hours.

i used the mg organic soil and i thought it needed to be cut pretty hard with with perlite or vermiculite, it compacted hard when you let it dry out between waterings. but it did a great job after i fixed the compact issues. i perfer the mg potting soil mix and i cut it 4 to 1 with perlite. i don't feed anything but straight water for the first few weeks. watch your plants, at first signs of yellowing i feed them an all purpose fert 7-7-7 mixed at a 1/4 strenghth and watch how they respond and adjust the mix ratio from there. don't let the mg haters scare you, they're some great grow threads on here done in mg. i'm thinking it's in the way you are gardening because roots organics and foxfarms are both good reputable soil mixes too.

foxfarm bad now roots organic bad. i think i will try miracle grow organic mix. cant be any worse then me paying a shit load for a bag of dirt that is crap. i just want something simple. i dont want to add 10 different thinks to make soil. so we will see. lets pray together.

Miracle Grow?? You have to be kidding me!! Are you out of your mind?
Millions of people use the stuff to grow every plant and veggie and flower on the earth with great results'
And you want to grow MM with it? Did you bump your head?

MM growing may be one of the most conflicting things to grow. The info is all over the place. I recently emailed with two top breeders. One said tap root up, one said tap root down. Most things in here are like that. Flush or dont flush, soil or hydro. Best way to learn is to try it yourself.

MG products work good for me. Yes there is better stuff on the market, although affordability and aqquirability means some people have to work with "inferior" products. Its best to help people grow MM in MG rather then saying "bugger off, you F in wanker. Buy FF or Roots and budcandy or you and you grow suck like a jet motor

A bag of MG or FF or even roots seem to vary in consistency. I may be wrong but I would imaging most bugs enter during transit or storage, not during packaging.

I like to go to big lots or lowes, look for whats on sale, poke a hole and check out the soil. I can use it for seedlings or I can doctor it up with stuff left over from making Subs supersoil.

I get three bags for the price of one roots and I dont have to drive over 100 miles (one way) to buy overpriced roots.

Although I have bought roots and I think it is a fantastic product. If you can use it then by all means go for it. Just dont think you cant grow great weed with MG

its more about how he came in. its not that he cant get the good soil... he said he tried both of the leading MM brands. what it is, is that he came in here swinging on products that are far superior to the one that hes gonna try. we will all agree that FF and roots is better than MG, i hope. cost not considering.

fool needs to check nuts and look at his grow skills before bashing tried and tested products. i guarantee that the people making hte soil know more about it than all of us in this forum combined. nuff said.

To the original poster, just make your own soil. Get a good bag of some compost(i use chicken and cow manure), a bag of top soil, a good bag of perlite, vermiculite, some dr.earth bud and bloom booster with great microbial life, dolomite lime, worm castings(if you can find em), bone meal, blood meal, put it in a tote big enough to mix everything really well, cover it up leave it outside to "cook" and you will have a great soil to grow in bro!

I started with FFOF-got gnats, which seems to be an issue, and had water retention problems-me or the dirt?IDK. Went to Roots and loving it so far. MG organic is crap IMO to much bark/wood chip-Id use it to amend a bed but thats about it,yet my buddy has 3 Autos going in it and they seem to be doing alright... so its useable but Id rather use the regular MG potting soil-if I had to.

As far as cost goes,I spent about $250 on Roots, vermiculite,Promix, and amendments, which made about 55Gals of soil. I should end up with an appx. 1LB harvest-all without adding any nutes thruout the grow... so IDK $250 for even a half LB of premium meds sounds like a damn bargain to me.

I've made my own mix and let it cook in a 40 gallon bin but it got moldy, which is the main reason I steered away from organic gardening. Do you have any tips to avoid getting mold on my organic soil while it's cooking?

on topic: MG problems for me were bugs, ph, and the soil is too hot. Those problems are easy enough to avoid if you know what to do from the start, but is it worth it? In my opinion, no. FFOF + FF nutes gave me buds twice as big as my doctored-up MG. No mixing required.

To put it "bluntly", The amount of work I put into mixing MG to make it usable is not worth the end result. I got better results with less work from OF. Could be any number of variables that affected this, but that's my experience.

I personally wouldnt use anything by fox farm ever again, their garbage ass hydro nutrient line is without a shadow of a doubt the worst nutes ive ever used, they turn the rez into a trash can overnight & make it smell like a crack whore's ass,its also extremely notorious for being impossible to retain a proper & stable ph level without daily adjustments, its crap & not user error,i know exactly how to run my tables the product is shit.

Im not much more impressed with their $20 a bag soil either,it works but so does alot of other soils, including miracle grow, anybody who cant grow good dope with mg has never applied themselves,mg makes soil with & without additives, most guys dont even take the time to know what type they have, then they magic sauce the shit out of it with nutes, usually $20 a quart fox farm crap or other botique nutes.

Uncle ben has shown this forum what can be done using $5 worth of soil & nutes combigned & he has done so many times & the FF fanboys responses are allways the same................just think how much better it coulda been with magic ff soil.

Anybody here who thinks mg is a bad soil has been mislead or has not taken the time to use the products properly,if i can grow good dope using it so can anybody else, end of story.

Good advice, panhead. I haven't noticed any fanboys in this thread though, only haters.
