Fox Farm Nutrients?

Okay. any suggestions to how I can be a little more active on here? and I just simply want the grow journal as a point of reference for my questions ect. as I get larger grows too.
 
@daloudpack woke up this morning with the curiosity of flushing pants. I've seen it done numerous times just never paid enough attention to it to know how to do it. Following the schedule i provided in the link, flushing at the designated times. How should I go about flushing the plants as far as actually physically doing it?

I'm opening a new thread under nutrients section so other's can find it easier also
 
u can by a flushing agent with fox farms its called SLEDGEHAMMER , or just use plant ph'd water if its tap water let it sit for atleast 24 hours. sum peoople use compost tea .. i just flush with water...
 
Just flush with water. Most flushing products are a gimmick. Like poster above said if using tap water make sure it sits out for a day as you want the chlorine or chloramine(depends if you have hard or soft water) to dissipate.
EDIT: You can also go to a fish store and use some of the products they have for dechlorination.
 
I'm glad you both brought up letting it sit for a day I actually already do this as a precaution. Now the idea of it is firm. But what I guess I'm looking for is actually the technique of actually applying the flush. How much water, do I remove the water cache and do it outside my space?, Keep in mind I'm still only going to be using 3 gal pots.
 
i believe u maybe talking about leeching, which in my opinion should be done before u put ur plants in, its mainly for hot soil (too many nutrients in your soil) u would run a few gallons thru ur soil and let it dry for a few days.... flushing is just ridding all nutrients and chemicals from ur plant over a period of time by feeding with plain watter u can do it just like u feed ....water till u get a 25% runn off
 
Im not really a fan of FF soil as it's pretty pricey for what it is. I use pro mix HP(peat moss mixed with perlite and a few other goodies. Considered hydroponic though as it's soilless.) I use the Fox farms trio, and for flowering I use the trio(minimal big grow/nitrogen) open sesame and beastie bloomz. I can not stress enough that beastie bloomz is the shit. I have not tried a bulker that can honestly surpass this for my environment. I also just started to use terpinator as recommended by a few others and have seen good success and some good flavors in the wax I make.

when you should start using nutrients and how much water is hard to say over the net. All plants are different. You can have 2 of the same plants of the same strain from the same breeder, but they could be different phenos and act differently. But generally 2 weeks to 1 month in is about how long the soil will last you... But once again so many variants. Just make sure the soil stays moist. Poke your finger 1 inch into the soil and see if its moist. If it is your good on water

For transplanting IMO you only want to have to transplant once. Grow it out as big as it can in a solo cup, then transplant it into your final pot.

Okay awesome! and I'm just being curious here but the research i've been trying to do and the videos i've watched on youtube they all just run water through it with no water cache underneath the pots and basically rinse the soil to remove all build up of salts etc. and to make sure that you can maintain a stable level of nutrients in the pot. I forget who but they saidfor EX: you have nutrients from a bottle that come with A,B, and C. You get 10 parts A, 4 parts B, and 1 part C. The plant uses up B and C and 8/10 parts of A. so when you go to add more of the same nutrients you still have 2 parts leftover of A. and then when youa dd A,B,and C again you add another 10 Parts A, 4 parts B, and 1 part C. The plant again uses up all of B and C and another 8/10 parts of A leaving you with a build up of 4 extra parts of A.

I guess it made sense to the reason why flushing is important but I never received exact info. on if i just dump a bunch of water in the soil and let it all run out, then start back with regular feeding ooor what you just said to do.?
 
u can remover ur cache when it drains into it then dump that runn off out.... ur supposed to do that anyways as u dont want stagnant water getting re-absorbed by ur plant

Oh. hmm. could you explain to me that part? So it isnt good to let your plant absorb the run off ? I only thought it was a good idea because it wouldnt waste any nutes that may have gotten through? or are you jsut saying for flushing purposes? interesting 0.o

hm. well as a project you want to try it with me? I haven't started my room up yet I need to get a circulating fan and a extractor fan before I do. But I don't generally see it hurting anything.
Is this your first grow period or just your first grow in soil?
