Fox Farm nutrient question

Hello! I've had this rollitup account for a long time and I've learned a lot but haven't posted much, but that's probably gonna change as I've recently started growing my first plant. Its an OG kush bagseed and its 9 weeks old from the day it sprouted above soil. Its in foxfarm ocean forest soil and i fed it foxfarm growbig at 5 weeks old and it burned it pretty bad. I flushed it and gave it just plain water for a few weeks after and it seems to be doing fine now but the nute burn definitely set it back a week or two. Its got about 10 sets of leaves and its about a foot tall now and growing healthy but i feel like its not as bushy as it should be so in gonna let it veg for a couple more weeks. Its got a few preflowerws on it now too. I think I'm gonna start giving it the grow big every other watering now since its bigger and healthier and my question was should i start giving it big bloom now too? Or should i wait til i flower to use that? I've read that you can use it in veg but i wasn't sure if i should since i burned my plant with the grow big. Or should i just let the ocean forest take care of it for me and not use anymore liquid nutes in veg? Any help is greatly appreciated

Are you following a light schedule? If you'd like it to be bushier, top it a few times before you flip it to flower. It really doesnt take that long for it to get bushier afterward. You probably lost a lot of its early development to the burn and now the new growth is what your left with. I'm sure you know it now but go easy on them nutes. Like Mr S says that FF soil already has a certain amount in it, thats why it burned for you before.

Just use the Big Bloom for now. Start with 300 ppms and see how she handles it, and use the bloom during flower. Good Luck

Thanks for the responses guys. i am on 18/6 photoperiod and its under a 150w hps, which i think also might be responsible for some of the lack of bushiness. I think i will just give her one more feeding of big bloom before i flower. thanks again!

Big bloom is organic, basically water, bat guano and worm castings.. You should be safe using it from seed to harvest even during the final flush. FFOF contains pretty much the same stuff that's in Big Bloom, I usually start using it along with Grow big when I start to see nute deficiencies.

FF Big Bloom is more or less like a tea, it would be very hard to burn plants using this. It can be used throughout your grow. Grow Big is liquid veg. nute, much hotter, start off at about 1/4 then work up. Use Grow Big throughout veg and into about the first 2wks of flower and then again once or twice during flower. FF Tiger Bloom I'd their liquid flower nute, use during flowering up until about the last wheel or two. FF also has supplemental soluble nutes; Open Sesame, used during preflower, Beastie Bloomz, used during mid flower, and Chaching, used during the end of flowering. These soluble nute are even hotter than the liquid base nutes, use sparingly. Open Sesame is used to promote more bud sites and to kick off flowering (supposably). Beastie Bloomz is used to fatten up buds (supposably). Chaching is used to increase resin production (supposably). Go to the FF website, you will find more info plus feeding schedules (which I only use as a general guideline). Hope this helps some.

The bushiness of a plant can be caused by several things, but it's generally caused by genetics and light. If you're running some strong HID lights your plants will grow more bushy than if you're running a CFL or something. As a general rule: more light = shorter, bushier plants. They grow tall and lanky because they're trying to get up high enough to find the sun (they think they're being shaded by other, taller plants, if they're not getting enough light.)

My guess is you need stronger lights. More time will probably just result in taller plants, not bushier ones.

Its got a few preflowerws on it now too.
Sounds like you're not vegging anymore, sounds like you're in flowering. Is it an autoflower strain or have you been running close to 12/12 lighting?

I can't give you advice on the timing of Big Bloom specifically, I won't use it. But with any nutrients you want to start light, like quarter strength. If your plants show signs of getting paler green they probably need more food. Otherwise, try to keep your feedings proportional to the size of your plants, working up to full strength slowly and carefully. I would only ever exceed full strength if I was giving them full strength and they were still showing signs of underfeeding. Generally, if your plants look happy, don't mess with them.
