Fox Farm Nutes?

Fuck I am pissed.

Let me save everyone a lot of trouble and time.

Go with Advanced Nutrient. Their feeding schedules are designed and tested for Cannabis. Fat Mike makes no excuses for who and what he is selling. You call FoxFarm and ask them a specific question about their feeding schedule and its relationship to Cannabis and those fucken pussies start crying "federal law prevents us from..." Blah blah blah, shut the fuck diesel dike!

FoxFarm did not develop their feeding schedule for Cannabis nor did they test it on Cannabis. That has become painfully clear to me. Adding Grow Big (2-3tsp/gallon) to their Ocean Forest soil and feeding every other watering in pots larger than 3 gallons will burn the fuck out of your plants. Burn the fuck out of your plants.

Same thing with their Tiger Bloom and adding Open Sesame or Beastie Bloomz or Cha Ching. Burn the fuck out of your plants.

Way too strong.

If you are a do it yourself kind of guy who likes to 'discover' the path to enlightenment then by all means get FoxFarm. Or save yourself a lot of money and go buy in bulk N, P and K from a manufacturer.

I believe I have finally figured out a good balance to using FoxFarm in an appropriate feeding schedule and it is nowhere near what they recommend.

I agree totally. Grow big add enough N to keep them happy. I got N def. 1st grow but not any more. great products... makes it easy.

All you really need to start, they package together and you can get it for 50 bucks. Big bloom, tiger bloom, and grow big wrapped together in plastic. If you really don't know what you're doing yet, I'd just get that, or general hydroponics flora series.

Sorry it didn't work out for you but I've been a very happy user for years. The only time I had problems is when I lost track and gave them nuted water several times in a row instead of alternating.

I just harvested my first grow using their solubles (Beastie Bloomz, Cha Ching) plus I also used molasses for the first time. I saw a definite increase in resin. Very sticky. :)

So you followed FoxFarm feeding schedule exactly using Ocean Forest soil?

and 2-3 tsp/gl of Grow Big every other watering in veg and 2 tsp/gl of Tiger Bloom every other watering with 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of Open Sesame or Beastie Bloomz or Cha Ching in flowering?

and you did not experience any nute burn?

Flowering Plants
Soil is regular FoxFarms Ocean Forest, nothing else. I always transplant to new soil right before flowering.
Week 1: 1/2 strength
Week 2+: Full strength
Week before harvest: No nutes

I've just been following their feeding schedule that they post on the web. This is my first grow using their solubles and I'm also using molasses for the first time. Checked the pantry and I had a new unopened bottle of the good type in there. Score! :)

As for the Bushdoctor:Sledgehammer. It's not listed on their current site or feeding schedule but it's listed on their PDF feeding schedule from 2005. Attached (sorry for jpeg, original PDF was to large to upload)

Never mind, I guess these are the answers to my questions.

It takes about 6 weeks in 4.5" pots to fully use up all the N in the soil before one would need to follow the FoxFarm schedule. And if you were using 5 gallon pots you probably wouldn't need Grow Big at all and maybe Tiger half way through flowering and probably only half at that, if at all.

This could have only been achieved through trial and error over time because this is not coming from FoxFarm. And I'm not happy paying $70 or so to fumble and stumble through a discover process.

Given my background I guess I'm just expecting too much. I expect people to show up with their 'A' game, have their shit together and have it done right the first time; thorough and complete. FoxFarm must still be some mom and pop country operation. But I do like the soil fresh out of the bag.

Actually I've changed my veg feeding to 1/2 strength every watering. I'm not so sure that it's all do to pot size. There's plenty of people here on RUI with much bigger grows than mine that use FFOF and FF nutes in 5 gallon buckets for pots.

I agree completely, spode, but I have $70 worth of nutrients sitting on the shelf, and I can't afford a new set.

My first two grows were tragic; not so much from the burn, though burn they did, but I attribute poor harvests both times to over-ferting. But I got some smoke from them and learned.

This one I started with 2/3 FFOF, 1/6 old FFOF from my last chopped male pots, and 1/6 of some organic stuff from Canada. 30% perlite. I figured I could "cool" the FFOF by diluting it a bit.

I started with nutes according to FF's schedule after the third week--at 1/4 the recommended dose.

I started with eight bag-seed plants. After a short, four week veg (I don't have much head room), I flipped the light (400 hid) and switched bulbs. I also added two 68w 2700k cfls on the side. Four were males, and one hermied after a week and a half. I'm into my third week of flowering now.

The three that remain are outstanding. Perhaps I'll up the nute dose to 1/2 strength later, but maybe not. I'm thinking I'll get an ounce and half from each easy.

lets say if you're supposed to use both 1/4 dosage of grow big per gallon and 1/4 dosage of big bloom per gallon.. would you still use both 1/4 dosages, just together? if so, do you put both 1/4 dosages in the same gallon of water?

For my veg water it's supposed to be 3 tsp/gallon of Grow Big and 6 tsp/gallon of Big Bloom. Then you're supposed to water with it every other watering. I do 1.5 tsp/gallon of Grow Big and 3 tsp/gallon of Big Bloom and use that every watering.

You are correct, a 1/4 dosage of each. Make sure you pour each nute seperately into your water and stir it a little before adding the next nutrient. And FYI for you, not only am I doing much less than what they recommend I'm also adding nutes every third watering, not every other. My new plants are in three gallon pots under a 1000w light.

Does anyone use any other supplements with there Fox Farm products, like Cal-Mag or Hygrozyme? Can you add Hygrozyme with FF products (Big Bloom)?

Guess I'm talking Hydro...not soil...

I am using the whole FF line up with solubles according to their feed schedule. I use R/O water so I use cal-mag. I had a major magnesium deficiency early on so I have been using cal-mag. I don't think FF nutes contain enough magnesium for mj. I also use Diamond nectar and superthrive during veg.

i like cmag and hygro in the soil. cmag can burn on top of fox so only a little once and a while hygro wont burn but same deal

How much Cal-Mag do you add on your reservoir changes?

Did your deficiency look like nutrient burn/room over temp?

I am doing soil right now. I have to use r/o water because my tapwater is over 600 ppm! Here is a link to my thread with pics of what it looked like early on.

P.S. I use 1 teaspoon per gallon every other watering but I am going to up it a little bit because I am starting to see signs of it on one of my girls.

That depends on the size of your pots, the amount of light being used -watts-, the strain being grown and your experience. I'm assuming you're growing in soil. And the type of soil you are using.

Would you like to share that information?

Their feeding schedule is every other watering. It's in Yellow type Red background along the side of download and also listed again in the feeding tips at the bottom of the page.
