Found Way To Get Free Grow Supplies.

...So, if you live in an area that has stores where they use those do-it-yourself check outs, you can often get free shit. You need to be prepared to pay for anything you try to check out - but know that those self scan machines are constantly bugging out for no good reason, so the clerks tending them get lazy and often 'clear an alert' without looking to see why it was doing it. I found this out by chance when something I rang up didn't show up on my receipt - I thought it had scanned so I bagged it, and they must have just ignored their computer when it said something was wrong. I decided to find out if this was a fluke by purposely missing the code when scanning something and just acting dumb when the thing didnt let me scan the next item. The kid didn't bother to investigate at all, just did a tap on his computer and it was ready to go again. On the rare event of some clerk doing their job properly, they'll just say 'looks like that last item didn't scan' and you run it thru again. Of course, you smartly choose the right item that will save you the most if you end up getting it for free. We have all gotten overcharged for things before, so I look at it as a way to even the score. Its not like you were stuffin things in your pockets or anything, so they can't really say you were stealing something when they gave it to you free due to the clerk being lazy. Yeah, I know...I'm terrible

they are not giving it to you, you are stealing it through deception. I am neutral on this one here, I dont really care about it on moral level or anything and honestly who has never stole anything in their life? lol, when i was way younger i was almost i guess you could call it "addicted" to shoplifting and the rush you get from it.

Thieves are scum. The speedy checkout operates on two assumptions 1) You are smart enough to use it and 2) You are trustworthy enough to use it. Congratulations, you just failed the Wal-Mart honesty test.

well i always had the opinion that those self checkouts were stupid anyways, so instead of a consistent friendly cashier/bagger system to which i have been accustomed to all my life, i instead find myself in front of these machines, while having a simple user interface and premise still somehow turn out to be more of a hassle. ever tried buying produce through those? i was all like " codes? i have to punch in codes? bull shit wheres the camera thing that just knows its a goddamn avocado?" and as the OP mentioned there is usually 8 to 10 of these machines being poorly tended to by one most likely stressed disgruntled employee that just wants to make it to five. so if you were to go in during a particularly busy time, yeah stealing would be no problem. not at all like when i was little and my parents gave me just enough money to go and get milk, but i wanted a cheese-stick so i stuck one up my sleeve when nobody was looking and when i got to the checkout the cashier guy (who looked remarkably like mos def) saw the cheese in my sleeve and called me on it he said "cheese in your sleeve" so in a quick motion i flung the cheese stick out of my sleeve and down onto the scanner thingy and yelled TA-DA! he laughed so hard and he paid for my cheese stick. that is why i dont want cashiers to be replaced by machines.

Yeah mista, that was kind of my point...they expect YOU to do the work of the cashier cause they would rather pay ONE poor schmuck minimum wage to run six registers. If I'm doin the job, then shouldn't there be somethin in it for ME? If the company wants to increase profits by putting me to work (for free) doing what they should be paying a cashier to do, then they are bound to have errors and harried clerks who just don't give a damn if you're doing their job right. Don't get me started on how many times I've gotten home to find out that some items didn't scan at the sale price or I was just plain overcharged! I figure they're still way ahead on all the customers they overcharged that didn't drive all the way back to get their refund, or didn't even notice they were had. I know a free lightbulb is far from what they owe me over the years...

PS: Pretty funny with the TA-DA on the cheesestick - that's a quick thinkin kid!

Hey man, you don't have to justify to me why you steal . . . you just have to convince yourself its ok.

Was not 'justifying' anything to you - my reply was to mista's post, not any other...and I seem pretty 'ok' with it already, no convincing needed.

Well, in this guy's defense, at least he is stealing off an evil corporation like wal-mart and not a local, small business. It's slightly less wrong...not by much though...

ouch im glad i dont know you
theives are scum and if you cant trust a grower then who can you trust
you give growers a bad name
you should give up growing and start dealing
most of them arent honest anyways and rip you off IMO
they have no shame in selling shitty weed and giving you a light bag
and apparently from what you have said you have no shame either.

What does some dealer selling you shitty weed have to do with the original posting subject? Nothing to do with you or your dealer issues. For every self-righteous hypocrite throwing stones here, there are plenty of others who would also like to take a little bit back from the big corporations that squeeze them any way they can.

It isn't hypocritical if you don't do it, and it is only self-righteous because you are looking up from the lower end of the morality scale. True, Home Depot and Wal-Mart are large corporations, but that doesn't automatically make them evil: After Hurrican Andrew Home Depot refused to raise lumber prices even though the demand for lumber went through the roof. Wal-Mart is one of the largest employers in America- it may not be a great job or even a good job, but it is a job and they feed their families because of that job.

Fact is, both of these companies will meet or exceed their profit margins, in spite of you stealing. "How?" you might ask- by raising prices on the goods. In fact, they are already priced with an expected amount of loss calculated in. So what that means is that when you are taking something from one of these stores, you aren't necessarily hurting that company, you are hurting your fellow consumers. If you don't like a company, or think they are evil, here is a novel thought- don't buy from them, buy from a competitor . . . vote with dollars.

What mista mentioned would work too- you aren't stealing something if you are simply relocating it to a different part of the premises, and honestly it would be funny to see a jerkwad employee explain how he "lost" the front end loader. But to steal from a store is to steal from everyone else.

I don't expect you to understand this point of view, just wanted to make sure you where explained why thieves are scum.
