I know you don't need 100% sunlight every minute of daylight, but how much is yield typically hurt by various amounts of shade, assuming all other factors are decent?
Theoretical experiment:
For a strain like say White Widow, if you were to plant identical clones in identical giant pots, and then place one in each-
a) in direct ideal sun
b) beside a building that allowed direct sunlight half the day, then produced dark shade
c) just inside a forest (northern edge of field) where its pretty bright even where sun isn't penetrated with several hours direct light
d) just inside a forest (northern edge of field) where its even brighter than (c) where sun isn't penetrated, but little to no direct rays
e) in a very small clearing in thick forest where is gets speckled with direct rays early and late, and gets about 4-5 hours direct light
f) under a thick canopy that reduces light to near twilight levels all day
How do you guys think the others would yield ratio-wise against (a) in southwestern ontario [Latitude 43°]?
