Forced stress

On the suggestion of someone who calls this a "ridiculous claim" and "utter nonsense"
I am going to try and get the opinions of "more experienced growers" on the possible benefits of forcing, in some aspect or another, stress upon your plants in the final days before harvest, this will allegedly cause the plant to increase in size and trichome production by some fraction or another, as the plant is desperately seeking pollen before it dies. You don't necessarily have to prick the stem with thumbtacks, you could leave them in the dark the last 72 to 48 hours, or water them with chilled water, even shake the pots an rough them up a tad. Obviously you wouldn't want them to go hermie,
so striking the right balance would be necessary. I am not saying that Ive done this, or that it works and its the bees fucking knees. I am simply saying it doesn't seem to me to be utter nonsense, and while would want to argue to the death over this without even the slightest drop of evidence to support their contradictions of me, I have at least provided the BARE MINIMUM of evidence to support my "claim"

I am not seeking argument only truth so please anyone with personal experiences or external links to info on this comment! I have already done all the research I'm willing to do and soon I will attempt this myself but until then...:joint:

My knowledge of plant biology isn't strong enough to make this call, but, I recently read an article by Rosenthal citing several ongoing university level studies that indicate slight stress just before harvest to be beneficial. He was specifically talking about 36 hrs. of dark immediately prior to chopping.
I recall a Cervantes article in High Times last year about a study in Amsterdam that indicated the same thing.
I would think more research is in order, but early results are positive.
Any one who dismisses a new idea simply because it's new or different than their own practices is a fool. I've been a farmer for 45 years and I learn something new almost daily. If I'm not too stoned to pay attention anyway.

I'm waiting to try this myself in a few weeks, though with auto's it becomes an even more unsure thing. I'll be doing it to half of them, leaving the other half as a control group, I'll tell you how it goes, will be keeping up with this one...

I believe in the prolonged dark period as tests have shown thc to be at is peak in the morning when the light comes on light degrades thc so I think this method has some merit!

that sounds extreme, but leaves me to wonder:)..... at what point in flower did you do this? what was the effect?....very intristed
about six weeks in,( on a nine week or so strain).....more resin production, weighter buds, better high....all around better cannabis period...i'll be nailing all my plants end of september!!!!!:weed::hump:

T.H.C has two functions, a sunblock to protect the plants vulnerable reproductive organs, and as a pollen collection aid, when the plant is stress, it "thinks" its going to die, so it responds by increasing thc and bud size by a certain percentage. I also believe supplementing with ultraviolet light (UVA/UVB) about 30 mins. a day can help to increase the production of T.H.C

I heard the uva/uvb 30 minutes before and after help increase thc production. I would like to hear more about that nail technique can you go into more detail?! I always give them the 36hr of darkness, because they just seem wayyyyyy sticker when I do...

the nail seems a bit.. much I'd try a tack or two at the base of the stem, and just prick dont leave it in there or nothing

How about having sex in front of your plants? will that stress them out because they want to get pollinated really bad?
