For The Last Time

I'd love to start growing these Jamaican seeds in hydro, but after several posts asking, I have yet to get the one important answer I need. I'm doing a flood and drain system, 6 plants per container, 30 gallon res. The plants will be started in 1in rockwool cubes, then buried in hyrdroton(the rockwool). I already have everything I need nutes, seeds, lighting, etc, I just need the answers to these questions. Help me out for some spectacular bud porn once I get up and running

How deep should the hydroton be around the cubes, any estimated flood times would be nice, and how do I set my drain to waste up? as an overflow pipe(how tall?) or a seperate pump out of the table?

Hydroton should be deep enough to cover the cubes, but not the plant, positioned high enough for the water to reach. The height of the overflow shouldn't be any higher than the bottom of the rockwool plug-- So as not to allow the water to drench the seedlings, but rather, barely touch the bottom of the plug.

This will encourage the fresh roots to seek the water below.

You want it to flood every three hours for about 15 minutes in hydroton. Every two - even 1--if the plants get huge. Hydroton doesn't hold much water, so you honeslty can't overdo the flooding if the plants have a well developed root system.

What kind of nutes are you running?

ok, try this: once popped and rooted well (like two weeks or until the rootlets pop out of the cube sides and bottoms), put them into the hydroton (one inch over the length of the stem protruding from top of the cube *also the same for clones fyi*)...

run it on weaker nutes for the first week or two (to keep them from getting shocked, i run quarter strength myself in an ebb and flow system)...

flood 15 min every 6 hours per lighting cycle (3 times per day on 18:6, 4 times per day on 24:0 until flowering then 15 min per three hours)...

unsure as to what you mean about how to set your "your drain to waste up"??? what does that mean exactly...

overflow pipe ought to be (it is to your taste, of course) 1" lower than the top of the containers the plants are in...

of a separate pump will pump the water to where exactly? auxiliary reservoir??? for a drain to waste program??? it would be easier for it to just drain directly to the res so you don't have as many moving parts as well... kiss that what they say right??? enjoy and hope it helps...

also, do you have enough canopy height for a tropical sativa??? they can get much bigger than 6" most people allow for most indoor grows...

I'm using the Technaflora "recipe for success" starter kit, as it was recommended as a safe starter for hydro, as well as having a very simple feeding schedule. Thanks for clearing that up, now I'll have my system built by wednesday.

to NL, The last 17 seeds I grew out are in my journal. In 1 gallon soil pots, 4 months from seed, the tallest got to 3.5 ft tall, and all the plants displayed indica heavy traits, growthpatterns, and high. I will be training these plants out the ass to increase to yield, so even if I do get a Sativa heavy plant or two, I'll make sure it stays in my space.

They'll be under fluoro tubes until the roots show well enough, then I'll cover in hydroton and kick on the 400 MH, my clones will be raised under the fluoro, and hopefully by flower, i should have a 1000w HPS for in the room, as well as more ducting and better venting to control the heat from that bad boy.
