Food Dehydrator for drying??

Hi,
I know this is a contentious issue, but has anyone tried a food dehydrator to try drying a bit of weed out? I have sourced a cheap one for around £26. Read the reviews and check Ed the temps etc. It operates between 40 degrees and 70 degrees and just have a huge fan the whole size of the base with a 15w heater element. Reviews say it works in hours and not days, would be another gadget I love gadgets me. Good way to try your weed before you decide on harvesting maybe??
what are your thoughts peeps?

You are of course 100% right, I’m struggling with supply atm and my babes are about 8 days into drying, just thought this may be an option. I know patience is the key here, but if my other half doesn’t get a decent smoke soon, I’m gonna have to move out lol

What a waste of time and energy not drying properly, plus the end result is a inferior smoke. Patience, I've been there. We didn't plan well enough in those situations......ideally two rooms, veg and flower so you can rotate.

Where will you have to go? Hopefully you have some family in the area. If you keep your area clean pretty sure you can sleep in your car on the streets. Just don't junk up your surroundings and report to here for small talk and things. Could easily be done. Not sure about bathing and hygiene as of now but someone might know a way.

My palatial surroundings would never stump to two rooms, it’s a 3x3 box I’m afraid

Quick dry a bud or two for now and do the rest slowly/right. It'll give you a comparison to see what a difference it makes.
Hey,
Already did before I cut them down. They are Bubblegum Autos, it’s actually a really decent hit and didn’t taste that bad. Maybe because I only use a bong or my starry vape, no nicotine or tobacco for this ex smoker! Makes me bone if I smoke at all from a joint , unless it’s a pure green joint....

That's bad luck......maybe the Buddha can help.......I'll give you credit, a3x3, no wonder your inventory dwindled......I harvest one room then bring in clones(after vegging 3 months) and start flowering process......this way, a constant, steady flow........saves gobs of cash.......recuped initial investment of news setup my first harvest. You don't need 100plants.....if growing for your own head, 6 good plants is plenty for 2 people and we smoke a lot. I'm rambling...apologies

1st grow I:

Dried for 7 days in tent
- Sampled a mid-branch bud & coughed my lungs out - BUT, I could taste PINE, GREEN, and hash. And it got me high!
Jarred - after a few days of burping:
After 3 days chose a sampling jar, tried a mid-sized bud
Nose is much improved, already showing some funk, but the "GREEN" has morphed into hay/alfalfa. Still pretty harsh.

Burped until the nose changed significantly (every 4 or 5 days at first)
Nose - Alfalfa faded and was replaced by FUNK / FUEL - almost eyewatering. Less moisture came to the surface, a bit better.
Flavor - harshness fades a bit more each sample. Flavors are still pretty green-vegetal but are mellowing to something more recognizable as Kush.

I did that and found that for my strain / taste the flavors AND effects peaked around 1.5-3 months.
Nose - Funk, hash-spice, skunky berries. Taste became very hash / kush, but smooth. Beat pretty much every dispo weed I've had lately.
Body effects became more and more pronounced and pleasant. (The hash made from the larf / trim was very narcotic!)
A month later:
I found a jarred ounce that I had misplaced (there's a grower's problem! :bigjoint: )
- Nose was still there, but much mellower. Taste seemed unchanged - beautiful!

You should be drying in the dark, not in the same tent that you are growing plants in. At 8-days of drying, they should at least be smokable. Likely the humidity from the grow tent is slowing the process. If the queen really needs something to smoke now, just fast dry a bud in the oven, or use a dehumidifier if you have one.

Great looking plants, no wonder someone needs a puff..... I think your soft-tie is to thick..I ordered same thing....the lighter weight softties are easier to work with........for decades I used twine, worked great.
Cheers Pal,
I kinda know what I’m doing, the trouble is with me I love technology and was struggling to understand how someone hasn’t came up with a gadget to do this.
I get it, I know exactly what your saying, I lived in the Netherlands for a number of years, and sampled the best I’m no rookie at this, Im a sixties child lol. Someone will be trying it, imagine if someone does crack it? Will all you die yards leave your green in jars for months or would you be tempted???
Started jarring some buds up for burping. They’ve been drying about 8 days now, I’ll do a few jars and hopefully I can savour some until my latest girls are ready for showing their stuff!!

Yes PJ, I know, but hey , I only got this little space 3x3 it’s a small room I built. The humidity is not too bad sits in and around 45% , I have left the plants hanging beside the carbon filter to drag what moisture I can out and the temp in there is max 26degrees.
The degradation from having lights on is minimal and I would think for 2 plants not worth having my whole home stink of weed, this is how I’m doing it.
may buy a small tent to veg in and try running more flowering and vegging simultaneously. Maybe in the warmer months I’ll try.
