FLUSH OR NOT

Hey guys and girls it's my first time and I'm near the end. I'm curious as to wether or not I should flush. I see mixed reviews on it. Can I get some opinions from everyone. Preferably with scientific data to back up your opinion

well....theres a lot of dissension in the ranks about this.
i can only tell you what i've done, and why. i taper off at the end, but not because i think it makes any kind of difference in quality. your medium will hold nutrients for a week or two, and i don't see any point in heavy feeding that's going to stay in the medium and never get used by the plant.
plants don't absorb nutrients in the form you put them in the pot, they absorb negative ions of those nutrients. once the plant absorbs those ions, no amount of water in the world is going to get them out of that plant. ever. period. and thats science. you can look it all up, if i copied/pasted it, it would take up a whole page.
there's not one single plant in the world that farmers "flush".....because it's a useless silly thing to do, it's a waste of time and effort, and can potentially hurt yields, depending on how aggressive you are with it
most of the things that people say flushing does is really from good - or bad, drying and curing. dark ash, harsh smoke, and crackling, popping weed is all from bad drying and curing, not from nutrients in the weed.

Consider that flushing is not taught or practiced at any AG schools. Consider that flushing is not done on any other commercial crops, including smokable ones like tobacco. There literally is no scientific data supporting it.

Next, know that different people define flushing differently. Here on RIU it is in the common definitions section as putting 3X pot volume through your soil. Some will say it means going water only the last couple weeks. So your thread is going to go to shit just over this difference in defining it, which you did not do.

Next, know that flushing is sometimes done to fix massive fuck ups in your feeding plan or fucked up plant medium. Others claim it is the key to smooth flavorable smoke. The former have a point and the latter do not know what they are talking about.

Good luck with your shitstorm thread! :bigjoint:

My apologies for not defining flushing correctly what I mean by that is... some people I talk to want me to use a flushing agent some people tell me to just flush with two times water depending on pot volume. My my true question is what happens if I just cut it down in the middle of night after it's ready? Will it be a more harsh smoke?

Harshness comes from not understanding the dry and cure process.

Can I use the same space that I grew in. It is a tent. Do I keep lights on or go dark. Fan on or off. Dehumidifier or no. I'm sorry this will be my first harvest so I'm nervous

Dark, light air movement and exchange, 40% humidity, 65 degrees, or something close. You can look up charts on rh and temp combinations to achieve desired results.

grow room conditions are not often conducive to drying marijuana. you'll need some meters anyways, check those numbers and control a space for your needs
