Fluoro grow cab?

It's probably been asked before, but I'm too high and searching just gets me sidetracked.

So I'm thinking about building a small grow cabinet. about 2.5' wide, 16" deep, and about 4' tall.

I was going to use cfl lighting, but I came across a 6 lamp 2' long t5 HO fixture.

I'm thinking about running 4 t5s vertically, 1 in each corner, and the 6 lamp fixture horizontally. So 10 lamps all together.

Is heat going to be an issue with 10 bulbs?


I'd like to leave 6500k bulbs in the vertical lamps for both veg and flower, and for veg 6 6500k in the horizontal fixture, 6 2700k for flower.

It's a lot of money for the lighting, but it allows me to keep it small and hopefully a little cooler than hps lighting. Or will it?

This cabinet is mostly for experimentation, and learning. I'm going to try a few things like lst and shit.

I'm going to have a small fan for air circulation, and a small 4" inline fan with speed control, and small carbon filter for exhaust.

Not sure what media, I'm thinking about throwing dual auto pot in there.

Suggestions, ideas? I'm all ears.

I cant help too much but from what I have read, vegging with T5's is excellent. I have seen a few peoples grows with T5's used during flower and the plants were beautiful with very big nugs. I say go for it. Its what i plan on doing

Anyone have any idea how many t5 bulbs it takes to equal the same heat as a 250 watt hps?

I think i remember reading 12 but i dont remember if it was at a certain watt bulb 23 23 23 ect...

isnt that a benifit of T5? Being cool and not putting off much heat?
