ok, well ive got a 400W hps in a 3x3x3' area as a bloombox, and i plan on making a sep veg/clone chamber, so that i can take clones, how many watts of CFL's should i use for each plant to veg all the way through, for about a month since i keep plants short and tie the branches down to make a bush, would 2 125W CFL's work? or should i get a few 42W CFL's? what would the best setup be for a decent amount of clones so that i can do a perpetual grow...i plan on building a 65gal rubbermaid container by installing the CFL fixtures in the lid, therby having a clonebox, i found ap lace that sells fixtures for 125 and 200's for 15 bucks, and the 125 bulbs are 50 bucks and 200 are 80, so what should i do, like i said my bloom area is 3x3x3 with a 400W HPS, so i can fit a ton of clones in there with a single cola on each. i just want a continous amount of plants going, like a harvest every week eventually, so what would the best wattage/plants for CFL's be?

for the clones a 40 watt fluoiterresent and i would buy the lil moister box there like 3 bucks and then a cheap heating pad to put under the box cause roots develope best at 70-80 deg F

Clfs work fine for cloning but dont work worth a crap for veg.Well 40watters anyways.T's might do better.I have 6 40watts clfs for veg and been having to run the bigger plants in the bloomroom for 12 hrs for more growth. 12 under the big light 6 under the cfl's.I'll be getting another 600 for veg here shortly.Clf just dont do it.Well, maybe but way,way slower. After about 10 inches of plant growth the clfs just dont have the balls to keep them jumpin out of the pots.

I've had great sucess with CFL's for vegging. 10 - 23w bulbs took care of my 12 plants. My clone box uses 4 - 23 watters and so far i've had 100% success rate. Picture results if you follow my link. Hope this helps! G'luck!

Hmm...my cfls are working wonders on my plants right now. You sure you are using the right spectrum of lights? I'm using (9) 23 watt 6500k and (3) 13 watt 2700k.

As far as the original poster... I don't think you should need that many cfls for veg. Don't get me wrong, the more the better, but when you flower the plants is when you REALLY want to break out the big lights. :blsmoke:
