flowers vs. buds... a little confused

I'm a little confused. I read in several sources about the "flowering stage" and I've even seen on this board questions like "how long does flowering last?"
Well, I've got a pretty big plant that's just covered with flowers and has been for about a month (maybe going on two), In the past I've seen flowers form, but they soon became regular buds.
Am I doing something wrong that these flowers aren't becoming buds?
Thanks

it sounds like you have a male.

we call the 12/12 cycle flowering because its the flowering stage of the plant.

buds are the female flowers.

males have flowers with petals on them andcarry pollen.

a pic would help but it sounds like you have a male plant which is not going to get you any buds.

A cannabis flower isn't like a dandelions or a rose flower.
The flower is the bud, in the female plant. The little sack with the "V-shaped" hairs. Males grow balls and hang down from the branch (node) like grapes.

Some female plants (quite rare) wont get past the "pre-flower-stage" and just form sacks with hairs, not /or weak/ "buds" ("clusters with this sacks"). Colas are buds that sits tightly together on the stem..
If they are budding you are doing it right!

Thanks guys, but this is what has me bewildered, throughout its growth it has never had balls, only hairs. That would indicate to me that its a female.

So what about a female plant I have that has been flowering for about 3 weeks and now has male flowers popping up. No bananas, just little pods where the flowers pop up. It's covered in red hairs and looks good....but now it's a hermie.
