Flowering ???????

You can start the flowering stage at any time... Once your plant hits 12-14 inches might be ideal.

Remember that your girl will keep growing, so plan accordingly based on your grow room size.

Of course, pictures and more info about your grow space, nutes etc... would provide more info for the senior members to chew on. I am repeating what I have read and know to be true from previous grows. I am on my first aeroponic grow atm...

Plants will double even triple in size when flowering is induced. Something to keep in mind.

as stated anytime.

But I rather wait until its mature: showing pre flowers and/or when the leaves/nodes, start staggering (at each node, when young, you get 2 leaves right across from each other. as the plant matures, they are not right across, but kinda staggered.)

bigger plants tend to make bigger buds

the longer you wait - the larger the yield (all things being equal). the problem is - the plant doubles (sativas can quadruple) in size after switching to 12/12 so you may be limited by height and have to flower early.

to answer your question directly - you can start flowering as soon as the branches are strong enough to support buds.
