Flowering With CFL'S

Bad idea or what?

all i got right now is cfl's cant aford to drop any more money on this, they are the big cfl's though, 280 watt replacements, i think they are lke 85 watters, i got a veg and flower of each, i run them both on 12/12 now, am i gonna get a shitty harvest from this?

better than nothing, make sure you put reflectors directly behind your bulbs so you get maximum illumination.

...growing with cfl's should only effect the quantity of a plant, not the quality. I've seen killer grown under cfl's...but, buds don't get too dense. Good luck man.

appreciate the advice, if i add molasses to the res near harvesting will they get a little more dense that way?

I used CFL's on my first grow and I still got really dank bud. I grew this Indica dominant strain called Jungle Wreck and after the cure the buds were super crystally and broke up into powder. I harvested at 100% cloudy trichomes. It was awesome. You need like 4 per plant though at least, and you want them right up close to the leaves, just so long as they don't burn you plants.

You need at least 400W of light even for one plant. So if your using those 285 Watters you want at least 2 of them in your grow area for each plant. You can go to Home Depot and buy a pack of 4 100W replacement Kitchen and Bath CFL bulbs for around 20 bucks, then you just have to rig up the electrical components. You want your plants pretty much surrounded by CFL bulbs. They only really work well up to a foot or so away.

Don't use molasses in hydroponics. You could try Carbo-load from Advanced Nutrients, or something along those lines.

I grew Ice with only a 23 watt day light and a 40 watt daylight cfl and man that was one killer high i had, Almost as good as silver haze. But of course the quantity is very little. Plus i didnt do lst or scrog so i had like maybe 5-7 grams max lol maybe less. But that was my first time grow. Your weed will be killer with the lights your using. Im currently now using a ufo 90 watt for my stealth grow (in a fulltower case box) lol =)
