Flowering with CFL's????

yes t5's are a great alternate.

Im using T5's and CFL's it seems to be a good conbo. My space is very small so heat was an issue. I have th CFL's hanging lower on the side of the T5 to cover the lower buds. I use 4 CFL's and 4 T5's. I change the bulbs for for veg. and then for flowering. It really doesnt take long at all and its well worth it instead of using the same ones through the whole process like people are saying. It gets PLENTY of light. Its all in what size your space is. Also poly is a must. Good luck, be safe.

Ok i thought i would give my input! This is only my first grow and i havent started flowering yet but i picked up a fluorescent light fixture online that was 100 and that included shippin! A really nice light might i add and its a 6500 k 125 watts with 8500 lumens! Here is the link to the page but make sure if u buy one get the one with the BULB INCLUDED or u will be looking over 100 bucks one it.

take a look at my profile i use cfls only, 3 X 45watt, in soil using tomato feed, baby bio and a little bloom feed had a fare few oz last harvest

This guy has my favorite CFL's. www.cfl-growlight.com I've been flowering with them for almost three years with success. The key is to use ALOT of light. In my experience the reason most CFL growers only get good top bud is simple. Not enough light. Where danwxm uses 3x 45watt in soil, I'll use the 12 or 14 x 23watts. I get good undergrowth bud.
One other thing I have not seen mentioned here: CFL's can be placed all around the plant, instead of just overhead. ☺

I am still new to growing, but feel my last single plant was a successful one. The only reason is because of the extensive amount of research I've done. I am using 2 4' fluorescent (plant and aquarium) tubes on top as well as 2 4' fluorescent tubes at the back, 1 4' fluorescent tube at the front and 2 13W CFL in the middle of 20 seedlings ATM. One plant has grown 2" in 3 days and has multiple branches and huge fan leaves. I personally would only recommend CFL's for the vegging stage as the HPS will give of a bigger and better quality in a quicker timeframe. Also with any light you want to make sure that you are able to move them 1/2 inch at a time. You may want to move your plants around as well and put the bigger ones on one side so you can raise just one side of the lights. It also doesn't hurt to have lights at the bottom of your plant as it will help growth. I am still curious to try tinfoil on the top of the cup with a 1" hole in the center. If anyone wants pics I can post them. Just have to get over to the "office" to take some pics.

We trick the plants to do what we want. I only grow with CFL because of the heat. I can grow just as good as any 400/600/1000 MHL. Yes it takes longer, yes you might beat me buy a small amount of yield. But the plant genetics do most of the work. Is your 12/12 off time (dark) better then mine? Remember the 12 on is fall months. Not 102 deg summer months. I do Ok with CFL. I grow all kinds of things. 400W is better, but CLF is not shit.

Flame at Will

The only thing with cfl is fire danger and it takes longer to veg and flower otherwise i love em. Also a 6500K cfl if you have enough of them will give you the tightest node spacing out of any light source mh is like 4000k ive grown with both and cfl always wins hands down.

What do you mean FIRE danger.. as in more then HPS/MHL/T5/10-8

Y spliters home made lights and such hps or mh you have one ballast and one bulb. It some places they cant sell y adapters due to the fire risk.....Think thats only over seas but still. Ever seen a cfl explode youtube it not a good time hm and hps dont spit as much flame and burning shit just go POP.
