i was recently given a nice 400w mh rectangular floodlight. Im modifying it with some cooling fans which im open to ideas btw, for an indoor closet grow. my question is this, when it comes time to flower my baby girl what can i do to get the benefit of the other color spectrum? any cheap solutions? or will an all mh grow be ok? does anyone know what a grower could expect with hydroponics under this light?

never seen a all mh grow so really wouldnt know. it dont have the crrect spectrum but you could add some 2700k cfl's to the grow for that.

best advice would prob be get a hps lol.

or as he says, if your mh will take a conversion bulb get one of those?

here is a conversion bulb like what you need. Prices vary. Shop around.

You can't convert from MH to hps. You can only get a MH bulb for a hps ballast. The hps take a different ballast than the MH. I have a 400w MH that I am going to use all the way through so watch it to see what happens. I have asked the same question and a lot of people have had sucess with it. The HPS is the best way to go but the MH is a million times better than any CFL.

you can get a conversion bulb MH to HPS but you lose wattage, i grow with a mh all the way through. i just got an agrosun gold (mixed spectrum bulb) for MH ballasts. i would recommend it, just check out my grow for your self. Good luck and happy growing.
