Buy the time the plant is about 6 weeks in age you SHOULD start to see preflowers. My plants this go all showed at 5 weeks of age. If it's bag seed though...you could be looking at shit plants, best thing to do is buy seeds or find some clones from someone.

what is preflower how can i tell it has started? i have many nodes and branches between nodes. about 24" tall. big fan leaves, couple have died but none have recently.

Listen, when people post basic questions that have already been answered, it gets old real fast! The grow faq has answered all of your questions, no one is going to hold your hand thru the grow. I spent countless hours reading before even attempting a grow or posting a question. If you refuse to read and help yourself, why should anyone help you?
