Flowering in the winter lights on at night off during day?

Ok so I was just wondering even though im not a complete newbie if I ran my lights at night and shut them off during the day what effect would that have on my plants??

I figure the grow area would have less heat build up at night only thing is what about the day when lights are off and light is coming in from outside into the room next to my closet grow area???.

I am thinking that I will have to move fans around and close my closet door in the am say 6am then at 6 pm move fans back into there place which seems like a pain in the ass.


My question is if alil light leaks in during the day it shouldn't be too much of a problem??? as long as it aint grow light or direct sun? just making sure as I don't wanna get shit for bud

You will have to make it dark somehow Bro,I use black-white poly(Panda Paper)was doing the same during our 1st cold snap and running veg during the day,so the light's could heat the seperated room's.@night when it was coldest the HPS kept everything toasty.Had pc fan's and duct blowing everything in a loop.

My setup is in a spare bedroom and I run my lights at night for better temp control. What I've done about the window was simply tack some mylar over the curtains. This serves a couple purposes. Keeps light out during the day and light in at night (probably more important.). Going over the curtains makes it appear from out side that the curtains are simply closed.

Jimmy knows what he is talking about. Seal up the light leaks. Some double sided tape and panda/mylar will take care of windows. Storm sealing the door and adding a door/floor insulator thing/towel should take care of the leaks in a bedroom.

Think about it this way, light in=light out. So it is in your best interest to be light proof if not just for the sake of not having intense lighy leaking out for others to see. Not to mention depending on severity of the light leaks you will probably have some hermaphrodites.

i was thinking that see i have 2 doors i have one cracked with my fan in blowing air till i get my 4'"intake fan.

I could run the lights at night then get up move fans and close the grow space door in the am when they shut off then at night reopen the door ect.

i think some of you miss read my post. i was thinking of running lights at night 6pm till 6am 12/12 because they would provide me heat and make the area stay cooler.

yes light would leak into the actaul room the closet area is next to during the day but i could close the door . my question was kinda what if i forgot to seal up the room if i woke up late one day or something would it be big deal.

and also my power strip the only one i got shuts off with my timer.

I would keep my grow space closed all day but i need to get rid of heat??? maybe install some type of vent that closes when the fan kicks off

Light leaks = Herms. Wake up an hour late and you have a good chance of having seeds at the end.

I have grown before in the same area and had seedless bud but I suppose it could happen . So would having the lights off at night and keeping the area dark be a better idea ??? less chance of light leak then trying to keep daylight out ??

I do lights off day all year round, where iam from power is cheaper at night. It's not hard to seal ya room off. It is however a prick to pay daytime rates

Run with the sun if you can't seal it well enough. Run opposite if you can. Stand in there with the doors closed and the window blocked during day (also turn on all lights in neighboring rooms including above and below if possible.) If you can see anything, keep working. Also figure out your intake, an open door can't be the solution.

The closet is in a room correct? Block off the window in that room and the door leading to the rest of the house and leaks shouldn't be an issue. Unless I'm still not understanding.

image.jpg That is exactly what I did because the temps just worked out better to have the lights on at night. I just took some black weather strip and stuck on the edge of the door. Pretty damn light tight. I can barely see any light leaking. I'm taking these down thur. using that method.

I run lights during the night in a tent inside a light proof room. I do it for a few reasons don't like no one to be home and have the lights running. Also where I'm at it kinda warms up at night during the winter. Seems colder during the day .
Vice versa in the summer so it helps with temp control

ya well im using a space I tend to sleep in and I don't have my window blocked 100% during the day I also run a computer mostly at night so I might get a tiny bit of light from that but so far I have my area set up for dark at night light on at day

that's how i run my grow in winter, in a small closet..
i know everyone preaches complete darkness, or you'll get a hermie, but idk, i tend to think those claims are over hyped.. i've been growing in the same spot for over 5 years, and never seen a single hermie, knock on wood, and my setup is about as far from light proof that you could possibly get..

im not worried about the smell of 3 plants Im medical patient so really I just gotta try to keep the light out of the grow area mostly. might I add they smell great too.

an yes I too have grow a couple crops and had no seeds what so ever all 100% female so im just gonna give here a whirl just got my inline fan and hung it
