Flowering after 2 weeks?

This tiny 2 week old autoflower seems to have started flower. Same system I always use and they are supposed to be premium seeds from Night Owl. 5 Gal pot, Ocean forest, watering with spray bottle for now. 18/6 light schedule. I've heard of a few pistils showing up in veg which indicate sex, but this is starting to look like she's gone and flipped way early. Any ideas?

Yes ….

Autos are unpredictable
Thought so, looks like her sister from the same pack is about to pull the same stunt. Third time in the last two runs this has happened. Think I'm officially done with autoflowers. If Mephisto/Night Owl talent can't pull consistency off, then I reckon no one can. I'll stick with photos, more interesting strains & variety to be had there anyway.

With planting in final container you need to know what you’re doing otherwise stunted plants are common.

You want a low EC soil combined with a root stimulant in early days. Water every 3 days from sprout but slowly increasing from 500ml to 3-4L for a 5 gallon pot. For a small pot I always start at 500ml then work my way up.

Last thing. Before potting wet the soil with 15% volume of water. This stops the soil becoming to dry before you are properly saturating It.

I bet the edges of your pots dried out (fabric) and pruned the tap root too fast. The tap root can get to the bottom of a 5 gallon pot in under a week from sprout.

Ironically autoflowers are harder to grow than photoperiods as they are less forgiving. Only thing that makes them easier is not having to use a timer lol

But it wasn't stunted. Just shit genetics.

Lol. That’s an assumption. Shit genetics don’t always equal small plants. Pass me the seeds and I’ll grow one out for you :)
No it's a fact buddy. The is only 2 weeks old that's why it's small and going by the pistils it looks like it went into flower as soon as it sprouted. How could it possibly be anything but crap genetics? Explain to us please.

Lights, temp, watering frequency, feeding, soil
Composition, humidity are a possibility. Which can stunt any plant!!

I’ve seen a few on these forums of stunted autos. All seem to be in a hot mix.

The leaves are dark which suggest it’s a hot mix, never used ocean forest personally just know it’s a full strength potting mix. You want a light mix to promote root growth with young plants, photo or autoflower. The reason it’s more important with autos is as you’re aware the veg period is limited.

Would help if the OP gave the strain name. I doubt it’s suppose to be that small

I think you are missing the point. It's not stunted.
Why you think that a 2 week old plant that is the size of the one in that pic is stunted?

Lesson learned. I'll be storing your notes away in case I want to try autos again in the future.

The strain is Queens Banner by Night Owl. The seeds were planted into a half cup of happy frog surrounded by ocean forest. I did this in order for the roots to build up on the happy frog before hitting the hot stuff. It's worked in the past, but the previous times the portion of happy frog was a full cup

Well a few factors why I think so. It’s a 5 gallon pot right? So I’d say that plant is only 6-7 inches wide!

Also he said 2 weeks old. That can be 14 or 20 days. Big difference. The pics I uploaded are of a 14 and 20 day old plant in a 5 gallon.

@tswiz

Like all different strains (phenotypes) some can handle hotter mixes than others. This one doesn’t like rich soil! Try it in a seedling mix and use a root stim from day 1. You’ll be surprised!

So you still didn't explain why it's 2 weeks into flower.. lmfao

You are defending your opinion on autoflowers and the breeder. Which has nothing to do with the OP's problem. The plant flipped as soon as it broke the soil. It's the genetics brah

It would help if he had more photos, week by week to track the progression. It would have shown sex by the first node if so.

Autos can flower early due to drier soil, too wet, wrong light, bad up potting.

If all are conditions are met then yes it’s a bunk seed so genetics are at fault but shit genetics means something different to shit seed. Just saying

Here is an explanation - autos can grow big small or anything else. 2 week flowering ( sexxing ) isn’t rare.
Personally had one flower 21 days after germ.

@Nutty sKunK pretty much covered other things that can derail an auto. Autos used to be worse. About 20 odd years ago , if you breathed on them wrong they would stall or stunt.

Autos are basically plug and play. Sometimes you get duds. Not a real reflection on breeders necessarily but its just a gamble. Shit goes sideways with photos too.

I would stop further training and just let it find its way

As a followup to the 2 week flowering question. Here's how that plant turned out. Dwarf, yes, but plenty of frost & aroma. The two bigger plants started flowering after 3 weeks, they are putting out plenty of dense buds. Perhaps I'm not so down on autoflowers after all.summergrow01.jpegsummergrow02.jpegsummergrow05.jpegsummergrow01.jpegsummergrow01.jpegsummergrow02.jpegsummergrow05.jpeg

It looks like they turned out to be pretty small plants. Environmental conditions, and watering habits are the main causes for plants to make a hard left on us when we thing things are going smooth. Also.. genetics matter. I have only grown 4 autos in the last 3 years.. all have turned out awesome. Here’s my latest. I also just popped one. IMG_3300.jpegIMG_3306.jpegIMG_6649.jpeg
