florescent lights for flowering?

I have no choice but to use CLF lights in my grow space but I have just started flowering and wasn’t sure what type of florescent I should use to and how many. I have about 17sf and 7 plants. I would like to use the standard screw in bulb with clamp on style reflectors. I was thinking I could get Y adapters to increase light and save space as well. Is there a rule of thumb with this sort of thing? Any input or ideas would be great.

Your gonna need 2700k CFL'S, I use the 42watt ones from wal-mart and yeah you can use a y-adaptor to make two bulbs per one fixture. The rule of thumb is a minimum of 50 watts of HID lighting per square foot so I would double that for CFL'S

I have looked on those packages and did not see 2700K listed. How did you find this info?

Most of them won't say it on the package, but after I bought mine and figured out which was which, I noticed that the 6500k CFL's come in a blue box and 2700k CFL's come in a orange box well actually it was just a blue or orange peice of paper in the plastic that the light bulb was in. But they shoud put the damn spectrum on the box, the first time I went looking for the damn things it took me like 30 minutes to figure the shit out.

Ha, I stood in the store for almost 45 min tonight looking at bulbs. I just ended up getting 8- 23/100w 3000K CFL bulbs 6-24in 3000k and a 250w HPS thinking it would run cooler than my 600W HPS that I can’t use because it gets way to hot. Not sure if I got what I need but I am going to give it a try and see what happens. I agree it's hard to find CFL bulbs with the kelvin rating on the box.

yea and usually really small on the back,it will have the "heat rating".....thats where it will say 2700 lumens i think...at least on the home depot ones thats how they roll!

Thanks for some info guys. I just cruised a couple web sites and found out that these bulbs are GE Energy Star CFLs. Wally World sells one for about $10. Now they are introducing 2-packs for $16.88. The info on the web site tells all kind of info but the Kelvin number. But, now on the GE web site it says they only have 42 watt Energy Star bulbs in 2700K. But that could change next week.

So, long story short, these should be perfect for buds.

Also, on the same GE web site they say they will soon be introducing organic light panels. These are big sheets of plastic that are cut in various sizes. It's plug and play technology. It may obsolete LEDs.

I rigged up 2 real nice CFL lamps, I made two units which each hold 4 -42 watt CFLs horrizontally. I dont think its enough tho so im using a 400watt HPS for the last 2 weeks of flowering>
