Florado Review And Experience

Hi everyone,

I've been a long time fan and lurker here, but just recently signed up. Talked to my local hydro store owner, he's a big fan of the general hydroponics line of nutes. He's used flora nova for many grows, and I tried it recently as well. Seems like good stuff, I've had a solid yield with it, but the thickness and concentration of it has me slightly hesitant to continue with it (moving from soil to coco on my next grow). He said he's been using Floraduo on his last grow, and loves it. Personally, I'm not sure what I'll be using on my next one, so I'm hunting for input. Not much info out there on the web about Floraduo, so I thought I'd pose the question here.

Any experience with Floraduo, or general input regarding the GH line of nutes, or nute recommendations for a coco grow would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and I hope to be a worthwhile addition to an already wonderful online community! :leaf:

Never tried it, Whats the NPK?
The Floraduo grow is 5-0-6 and bloom is 1-5-4. Its pretty new, but theres some info about it on the euro sites. Seems to be an A+B style formula like Floranova. Hard to tell when a company has a genuine new angle with a nutrient, and when they're just trying to broaden the marketing spectrum and increase name recognition by tweaking the same old product with a new label. Thanks again for the responses, happy to be on board here.

I recently purchased some of this at a hydro shop, and I'm pretty excited about it. It mixes in clean, not the sludgy mess that is the Flora Nova line, is purportedly very chelated, and doesn't leave a massive salt residue in the res to clean up every nutrient change. I'd been using a BUNCH of different one part nutrients for veg, experimenting along the way to see what did the "best", worked the cleanest, and most justified the the extra expense. To make a long story short, except for the sludgy mess associated with Flora Nova Grow, I must say it worked very well, was extremely concentrated, and dollar for dollar went the furthest out of all them. The downside of course was the mess is made in the tank, and cleaning it up with every changeout. That is why I've been searching for something else! I've tried Fox Farm's Grow Big Hydroponic veg formula, Dyna-Gro, Botanicare's Pure Blend Pro, and even Humboldt Nutrients' Oneness. <---BEWARE of that one! All of them performed almost identically, and I couldn't distinguish any noticable improvements that would justify spending anything more on the more expensive products. Dutch Master's Gold line worked well, and was very clean also, but requires the use of more than just the A and B formulas i.e Zone, Silica, and if you can afford it, ADD .27.

GH's Flora Duo line, seemingly not only has a dollar for dollar value equal to or better than many of the other products, PLUS the cleanliness, and flexibility to be used for not just the veg stage, but for transition, AND flowering. I purchased and have been using the Flora Duo line nutes almost exclusively because of that flexibility, and the bonus of an easier cleanup job, as well as value, have been exactly what I've been looking for. My plants are in transition right now, so I don't have a previous harvest to refer to yet, but I'm definitely looking for the holy grail when it comes to many of those traits I mentioned, and AS of NOW, the GH Flora Duo line is the closest thing I've found.

Unfortunately, they need to get their act together as far as their online website in concerned. It doesn't even list it on there, and doesn't tell you anything about what's in it anywhere else either. It'd be nice to know the easiest, most economical, and simplest way to avoid which of their other products NOT to buy out so as not to be doubling or even tripling up on the same substances. All the nutrient companies have their propietary secrets, and it's EXTREMELY irritating not knowing, or being allowed to be told exactly what the f*%$ you're giving your plants! Not to mention the cost, or the damaging effects doubling or tripling into the mix certain substances can do, all the while thinking you're doing the best thing for them. For instance, how many products these days, claim to have norwegian sea kelp as an additive? Or molasses? Or amino acids, organic acids, humates, or fulvates? How can it possibly be ok to give all these supplements when so many of them have one or more combinations of these ingredients in them already??? This is the shit that has me so angry!

The most straightforward company I've found excpet for Dyna Gro has been GH, but even they have stuff in their bottles they're not telling you about. Advanced Nutrients does a good job of telling you what's in their products also, almost too verbose imo, but they segment their line of products into so many different bottles, it's not even worth it. Keep it is as simple as possible, but still give them everything they need. Is that too much to ask? Apparently so, and which is why it'll continue to take many more years of very expensive trial and error.........all as prices plummet, and demand goes down. /rant over.

Mcgician, I really appreciate the response and your detail. I've since picked up some Floraduo, and have been very happy with the initial results. Its much too early to say anything conclusive yet as I have only begun using it with the very latest batch of clones but I'm very optimistic. Its very clean and stays well aerated in the tub that its in like you mentioned. I love the two part nature of it, which allows some flexibility in tailoring just the right and specific NPK levels and concentration in any phase of growth. I'll continue any updates and observations that arise during the use of this new product, and I appreciate any other user accounts pertaining to this stuff.

what was the ph control like. I use the gh three part or the lucas and ph is pretty good. Some other nutes and I get a drift up too almost a ph of 8. These stay lower and sometimes not really at all. How is duo?

My water is RO filtered and super low, usually below 5. Using the Flora Duo raises it a bit, and with a bit of pH UP I can keep it around 6 very easily. I haven't tested the Duo individually, but it appears to be set right in the ideal range of 5.8-6.5. My meter took a dive recently, so all I have is a pool style tester kit, so I'll get back to you once I've gotten some accurate readings. I'm really starting to fall in love with this nutrient, it seems to be near perfect for my application in coco. I'll keep adding my thoughts and results throughout my grow.

Hi All,

I just called GH and they're supposed to email me a feeding schedule in the next week or two. When I get it, I'll post it here if no one has already done that. In the meantime, does anyone have a ratio of parts A to B for early veg? I have clones that have just sprouted roots and I'd like to start them on it ASAP. I'm using RO water in case it matters.

Thanks for your input with this nutrient, it seems like great stuff so far. As for an early veg formula, I started with 2tsp of A and 1 tsp of B per gallon. My heavy feeders loved it, others got a little nute burn. I'd start off a little less strength than that and dial it up slowly. Best of luck!

Looks amazing palebock, glad to see that its working so well! I'm really liking it too, I've got several other inputs (Flora Nectar, Xtreme Gardening products, Cal-Mag, Kool Bloom, etc but Floraduo is really proving to be a wonderful core supplement that I can build around. I got a pic of some of mine here, if you wanna take a look :) Keep up the great work, +rep!

I went into my local hydro store to buy some nutes and the guy gave me the floraduo set for free said just tell him how they worked out. It wasn't what i went in there to buy i'd never even heard of it but it's not like me to turn down something free. I just really wish there was more info on the product.

Like the rest of us using it, Mr. G, it looks like we just have to do a little experimenting. But so far, so good from what I can see. I have noticed that I'll probably use more than I was using of the Flora Nova series. I'll be that it ends up costing a little more per month. For the FN series, I was using 1 teaspoon/gallon of one nute. For the FloraDuo, I'm using 2-3 teaspoons of one part and 1 teaspoon of the other part, give or take. So, I anticipate using the nutes much quicker. That makes me a little suspect that GH is going to make a lot more money from me using the FD compared to the FN. But I really like how clean and not-sludgy it is, compared to the FN.

Wondering if anyone knows why they change the ratios from the samples to the release? The floraduo samples of "grow"(6-0-6) and "bloom"(0-4-2) and now the latest released are A(5-0-6) and B(1-5-4) ????

Good point highinbrek. Mine are the 5-0-6 and 1-5-4. I'm noticing a new problem with one of my teens. She's about a month out of the bubble cloner and has been on a formula of 2t/gallon of A and 1t/gallon of B (still going lite because I was waiting for one of the babies to catch up since it came out of the cloner about 3 weeks after the first one--she just wasn't ready until she decided she was ready). I'm also supplementing every other feeding with some Liquid Karma at 2t/gallon. I recently had a water softener and didn't realize that it was horrible for the plants, but they've been back on non-softened water for about 1 1/2 weeks. After realizing that the soft water was bad, I flushed for a few days on pure water. Any ideas as to what the problem in the picture is caused by? Could it be caused by the Flora Duo? Or a residual problem from the 2 previous weeks on softened water? Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks everyone.

Looks like you have a phosphorus deficiency could be from ph lockout too
Cool. Thanks for the info Jake. I was just hoping it wasn't caused by the Flora Duo. Water softener causing nute lockout would make a lot of sense if that's a possible cause.
