Fixing root rot: Hydroguard v Southern Ag Garden Friendly Fungicide

Update: So been trying to go the sterile route lately and my plants and roots are looking worse everyday. At this point I don't even know how much longer they'll live. I'm losing the battle and losing it badly. I don't even know what else I could try at this stage. This sucks :(.

i think it's based on gallons of aquarium.

one other thing i saw that i would change:
in your setup, paint the top of your res white. that will help keep temps even cooler.

are you using airstones?
I'm not sure if painting the top white would really help anything. My water is kept in the bottom res and my temps when I checked last night are already at 67f.

I wasn't using air stones, I've been using the waterfall method. maybe i should switch. So frustrated and disappointed right now, I feel like nothing I do will work.

i saw that but my thinking is the rot is in the top res so maybe keeping it cooler would help?

and for the airstones, i was thinking maybe you are sucking in some crappy air . waterfalls are better IMO.

i'm just trying to find the root cause since the band-aids aren't doing anything.

Thx brother, I do appreciate your help.

Maybe I should roll by a pet store today and if I can grab one of those uv lights and see if it makes any difference. Feeling pretty desperate right now.

I hear what you're saying about the root cause. That's why I switched up my set up in the first place. Doesn't seem to be helping though unfortunately.

Fuck it, I'm going to go get some Piranha again tomorrow. It's the only thing I've actually seen results with. This time I'm going to run with it until I see it not working(if that happens).

It's expensive as fuck and I hate myself for buying it lol, but if it works through the entire crop than it's money well spent.

have you looked at gen hydro subculture a and b? i'm not sure what's in them but i would imagine they are cheaper than AN stuff.
No I haven't. For now I'm just going to stick with the Piranha if it keeps working. I'll experiment more with others later again after I get a few crops under my belt first(providing the Piranha keeps working).

I'm curious about Great White/Orca as well. Hear good things about them. Hell I even wouldn't mind trying the Hydroguard even though the sag didn't work out.

But I badly need some solid recovery time before I start dabbling again with other stuff.

i had to look them up:
General Hydroponics has developed two innovative root innoculants, SubCulture-M and SubCulutre-B. SubCulture-M is a unique blend of mycorrhizae that can be dusted on roots during transplant. SubCulture-B is a blend of cultured bacteria that can be used in hydroponic reservoirs and in soils.

is that piranha a liquid or powder?

but yeah i don't blame ya. stick with what works for now and experiment later.

Rocky, I use
SubCulture M, been using it for years.
I have added Great White to the mix. It helps protect the root system I believe.
I dust the roots and the transplant pot with both prior to transplant.
The second way I use it. I don't use it through the drip system daily, but before the rez change, when rez is down to two to three gallons I add both and then do a mini flush. This works out to every 7 to 9 days. If I don't have enough solution in the rez I will hand water it in.
This is day 18 of 12/12, 3 days after adding SCM and GW at there recommended rates. Same Smart Pot, 1 gallon in Canna coco.

The way I look at it is, the better the root system the better the grow.

yeah, @R.Raider is using Piranha and i thought one of the subcultures was the mychhorizae stuff. he is having an unbelievable time with root rot.

One thing he has to give the products he is try time to work.
He is growing in Hydro, I am in coco, sort of the same.
I tried DWC, got the same shit as he's got, water temp is the key in Hydro, IMHO, but I don't do it so I could be all wrong.
