Great info man, thanks! Not only you do give fish, but you teach how to fish as well!
Will also mean less future questions too :), and im kind of tired of ppl debating me and telling me im wrong. Argue the documentation please....

EDIT: Oh and the thing i tried to describe to you and linked a consumer version of is just a portable air scrubber described in that documentation.

I should add, while it should be fine smell wise, it will stress your fan and make its lifespan shorter

That´s interesting. Why would the fan be stressed by blowing through a bigger hole? Negative pressure or something like that?

The rated CFM not the size of the intake . CFM is how much air will travel thru it which is affected both by density of the material as well as the size of the pipe. Think of it of how resistant or dense the carbon is, a higher cfm is both a bigger pipe and a harder packed material so its likely going to stress it more despite the fact its running a slower speed. Thats just my brain thinking about the physics of it, not actual real world experience on that situation.

Haha probably. I just can´t think of air putting any significant resistance to the blades. If I could fit it, I would use the 10x40 filter this thread is about, as it seems that air would just take longer the be pushed out of the filter. Let´s hope someone more knowledgeable chimes in.

[EDIT: I don´t know if the last part came out rude, but it is absolutely not meant to. I referred to someone who knows about this specific thing, not that I question you training or experience, or the clarity of your posts.]

For a 4x4 with a fan rated for these CFM, would it be useful to have a booster fan intake fan? I´d rather not have more things laying around, but there should be a reason some people use them in these setups.

@haze010 man, would you mind recommending what ducting to get for my flowering room (connected to a 6 inch fan, which would pull air from an 8 inch filter)? I assume insulated might be better, at least to reduce wind noise, but you might be able to give some tips in regard to quality, brands, etc.

Also, do you use a mask or something when mixing dirt, ammendments, etc.? My nose is not too happy when I do that (I grow with recycled soil mixes), so I don´t know if I should step it up from a cheap paper respirator. Thanks!
