Fish tank growing non hydroponics

Hey im new to indoor growing and ive done alot of research but i do have a question is it ok if i grow in a fish tank as protection from my cats.. see i have pot plants along with basil and flowers in individual pots growing and i placed them in a fish tank as i said so my cats wont eat them ... is that ok if they have proper lighting and watering i also have a fan blowing in the room

to be honest i dont not about the fish tanks but my cats dont bother my plants i just hate the car hair!!

I never knew cats were the herby type, my Lab ate one of my plants at the start of growing but not sure he enjoyed the taste too much hasn't really gone all out on them since then but every now and then I see a leaf thats been nibbled at, mind you he's been a lot more chilled lately......maybe thats why lol.
