First Try (With NO prior knowledge)

Situation: I've never smoked before. I've barely even ever seen the final product but a lot of my friends smoke so I figured fuck it, I'll give it a try. I got some "dark seeds" off of my friends (no idea what the difference in color means yet) and planted them in individual clay pots. My soil is Miracle-Gro Organic choice and mixed in with it is Mirale-Gro Organic Choice nutrients. I got 6 seeds to germinate by placing them in a wet napkin and placing it between a small plate and an upside bowel. After they germinated I planted them in the previously described setup and placed them into a cardboard box. My light is supplied by a 4' dual flourescent light fixture and the box is lined in aluminum foil to increase light reflection. This was all set up without doing any research and just trying a common sense approach. I actually just created an account here today for the sole purpose of posting this and getting your opnions. I plan on starting my research tonight after I list this.

Objective: Growing and smoking (for the first time) my own cannabis.

Reason for Posting: I'd like to get your opinons on my set up and see if you think the plants are as far along as they are supposed to be.

Length of Experiment: Two Weeks

looks like a nice start. most people dont like to use miracle grow for weed though(i did).

you should get rid of the foil , it creates hot spots. you can replace it with mylar or flat white paint.

if things go well youll probably want a little more light too, but theres time, theyre still small and healthy.

good job

Thanks for your comments guys, I really appreciate it. The light is currently resting on the box (the metal case hangs down about an inch past the bulb so it isn't touching the cardboard.) I believe it was about 23 dollars at home depot, but I just had it in the basement from a blacklight rave that we through last year. As far as the aluminum foil is concerned, I guess I will remove it tonight. I'm not sure what mylar is or where you get it, but i'll search the forums and find out. Lastly, the reason I'm doing this is for my own curiousity. I haven't really told anyone in fear of getting in trouble so its not for the praise. I definitely will not sell it, although I'm not what I'll do with the end product. But in all honestly, that's the last thing on my mind... I don't even know if this will work.

As far as future plans are concerned, I think I'm going to buy an old chest freezer that I found on craigslist and install two 100 watt light bulbs for heat, those HID lights that i've been reading about (I still need to do more research obviously haha), and a self watering system. Does that sound like a good way to go one the plants get bigger?
