not sure what happened to my last post, but yea i am 2 weeks in today. Growing some jah herer (similar to jack herer). Sadly the light knocked over my plant today (luckily its still alive), so i went ahead and just transplanted a week earlier then expected, put it in a 3 gallon smart pot. its root system looked good, though think a extra week in a red cup would have done it some good. As of right now its started growing leaves for its third node, will prob start flowering in about 1-2weeks. uploaded some old pics will get up more recent ones up later: currently the leaves that started growing in these pics are fully grown and another set are coming out, and the plant is about .5-1 inch taller, don't plan to water for another 5-7 days and prob wont begin feeding for atleast another 3-4 weeks

Off to a good start! Are they a little smaller than you expected at 2 weeks? Care to share the details of your setup? Subbed, good luck!

its my first grow, only doing one plant, so i didnt really know what to expect... but i am pretty sure they look good for where they are at,expecting 4-6 inches and 3-4 nodes by next week, which i think is just about right

  • though i am not going to lie wish i had some 1 ounce colas growing...right now i only have one 42 W CFL on it, daylight bulb on it.... originally had it in a red cup using fox farm soil, but just moved it into a 3 gallon smart pot a few mins ago... plan to start flowering 1-2 weeks from now and will be using a decent amount of LSTing... during flowering i will have 4 bulbs a 42, 32, 20, 15 all CFL the larger ones are daylight, smaller ones are warmer bulbs... plan to rotate the plant every 1-2 days so it gets a different spec every few days...

right on, sounds like you have a good plan. Should be enough watts for 1 girl. I'm in my first grow as well, day 26, and my babies (3 of them) are like 4.5 -5" tall which is a little shorter than i expected but they are pretty branchy. Check out pics in my journal if you like - (link is in my sig)

Thanks, will check it out... yea i feel like 3 weeks of veg should give about a good 6 inches, but it diff various plant to plant

its now been three weeks since i put my seed in soil... i added a 15 W cfl to it for vegging for about 8 hrs a day (its only for when i have my closet door open... when i sleep i close the door and i dont want to much heat to build up)... still running 18/6 its only at about 3 inchs, hasnt grown much at all this week ( i think its because i just transplanted it last week and its root system is still growing)... regardless hopefully i can start flowering by next week... also, i started doing some beginning LSTing yesterday (just bending it a little with my hands) in the hopes of getting the stem a little thicker and will do some more in a week or so... then at some point tie it down... here are some pics of it currently, little concerned about the very lower leaf, you can see it in the third pic... its starting to go a little yellow is this normal?

this little cotyledon leaves will eventually die off so dont worry its normal they should really take off now that you have it in a 3 gallon pot im thinking your gonna need some more light in there during flowering for a decent yield though

but so far so good everything is looking great

Thanks, good to know...I plan to add 2 more cfls for flowering a 30W and a 20W plus the 42W and 15 W i have on it right now, do you think this will be enough?

To tell you the truth i have never used cfl's but i hear the more the better but you definitely have to consider the spectrum and PAR watts of your lights, lumens do not matter when it comes to plants.
lumens are visible light to the human eye so they don't apply to plants
there can be so many lumens but only a percentage of it is usable light for them due to the spectrum you can do some research to get a better understanding on it there are plenty of threads around here on light spectrum and PAR watts.

either way your plants look great but like i said the more the better when it comes to CFL's

yea, thanks hopefully i'll have enough lights for one plant with some LSTing... will have a total of 112 watts in CFLS... 2 soft white-yellow, 1 daylight, and 1thats bright white (in the middle of the daylight/yellow spec)

so shes def, starting to grow now (was a little worried since it was like 7 days and no growth), watered her for the first time since i transplanted into a 3 gallon pot yesterday, and she grew a inch over night, at 4 inches now... did my first real lst right now, using a paper clip put her horz to try and give the new leaf growth that just came out like 2 days ago at the bottom some light... plan to start flowering most likely sunday regardless of height ( got its 6th node coming in now)... btw i am growing sativa so it will prob triple if in quadrupedal in height

So, i put her into flowering yesterday (was at about 6 nodes with a 7th growing and 4.5-5 inches of height)and retardly today after watering i decided i wanted to add the remaining amount of soil i had on top of the smart pot i am using... the lower stem was about 3 inches from the top edge of the pot and i had enough soil to add a good inch so that the stem would only be 2 inches from the top edge of the pot... but before i added it i attempted to dig her up a bit and raise her as much as i could... though during this process i may have ripped a few roots not 100% sure, but i think i did... i mean it was still held pretty tightly to the ground, so the root system was still attached, but i am worried... did i fuck up? it wont hermie on me this early will it... using a feminized seed btw

i doubt it she should be fine as long as you didn't really tear shit up down there but otherwise i wouldn't worry about it
were trying to add soil to the top or the bottom??

I was trying to add soil to the top, so i kinda dig around it a bit and gently pulled the stem up about a half a inch to a inch... would have been alot smarter and safer to have added it to the bottom though, I didnt even think of doing that... it was just really annoying me that i had like a cup of soil left and like 3 inches of space left in my flowering pot... you can kinda see what i mean from the old pictures i posted

so, X nutrients just sent me some cloning gel for free... what do you think about making a clone or two, even though i am 4 days into flowering, prob a bad idea?...though i am considering revegging after harvest, so i can maybe wait and do it then... is there any benefit to adding the cloning gel to my next watering and feeding it to her?

I think your biggest issue with taking a clone right now is that the plants are still a little on the small side for that. I'm really interested to learn more about revegging but don't know anything about it really. Cloning gel feeding.. hmmm, not sure what the hell that would do but will stay tuned for an expert opinion on that one.

Thanks, man probably will avoid cloning right now dont wanna do any damage or hermie it... I'll most likely be revegging... and in general the grows still going really good.... was starting to have some minor heat stress issues, but raised the lights a bit and that fixed it right up... and it seems to be growing about half a inch a day, little over 6 inches right now
