First timer, questions, HELP ME OUT GUYS!

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and to growing. I'm wanting to get a grow up and running within a month or so but being a newbie there are a few things I'm confused, I've been reading up heavily the last month or so and I feel I've gather a good amount of knowledge, but reading only gets you so far! So what I'm trying to do is start out growing one plant at a time, just to get some experience and not overwhelm myself with 5 or ten plants. I've been combing the forums and I've found some pretty good stuff, very helpfull, but I figured id start a thread and ask the question in my own words to have a better understanding. So the main is nutes, what do you guys use and recomend specificaley, what nutes do you use for vegetative and what do you use for flowering? Also as I'm starting out just with a single plant what type of wattage would be suffecient for a single plant? Also what would I spend on the stuff, lights, nutes, everything just to get one plant going at a time, I'm growing for personal use because I'm a bit tired of dealing with shady dealers trying to pass schwag for white widow (this actually happened, he told me it was white widow so I asked him why it was brown ). So I'm trying to get a ball park figure of what this is gonna cost, I've got the money to spend, I just wanna see WHAT ill be spending. So any help will be greatly appreciated and if this thread seem a little repetitive or has been asked by others I apologize but I haven't been able to find anything reall specific. Thanks in advance guys!

For nutes, I use the FF trio. For light, you can get away with 100w for the first plant and 50w for each extra plant. Those are minimums, but they work. I would get a 150w CFL or preferably a 250w HPS. 250w seems like overkill for one plant to me though. Prices vary, but I started my first grow with CFLs and was on a strict $150 budget. That was a small fan, lights, pots, soil, nutes(I used MG on the first crop and they were pretty nice bud. You MUST flush well before harvest though), etc. But you get out what you put in most of the time.

if you use fox farm solubles, use a very light dose. they can burn easily. for you first run stick to a simple 2 or 3 part fertilizer. i like fox farm Grow Big for veg and Maxsea Bloom for most of flowering. i supplement with FF Open sesame for the first week or so of flower and use Cha ching for the last couple weeks. the maxsea wil do fine for you and there is less chance of burning. be sure to get a cal mag supplement especially if you plan to use distilled or R/O water.

you are going to need to determine how much smoke you need before you can plan out you grow. if you are going to start from seed each time and only have one space to veg and flower, you will have a 3 month turn around minimum. thats if you get a female each time. a yield goal is usually just a bench mark for the size of set up you need. if you smoke an ounce a week, it wont do you much good to grow an ounce every 3 months will it?

Thanks for the heads up on the burning, I've heard 50% of the recomended dose? Is that about right? And ill smoke about an oz. every 3 weeks, not what you would call a "heavy smoker" I guess, I was just thinking starting with one would kind of help get the rythm of things down.you know just to get some experience before doing more. And I Planned to buy feminized seeds.

i dont use more than 1/2 dose of the FF solubles, and most of the time its only 1/4 dose.

if you set a goal for 1/4 lb every 4 months, it would be pretty easy to achieve with a scrog or lst set up. you main issue is going to be ensuring female plants, you could use feminized seeds or set up a mother and veg area. cloning and vegging would require more than one plant. if you ave the funds and ambition, a small perpetual harvest setup would be you best option. depending on what set up you use, you should be able to get every thing you need for under $1000. you could spend as little as $400 if you have a decent grow space to use and have a very small set up.

Do you guys have any experience with led lighting or do you reccomend sticking to hps? Also particulary off the topic of my thread topic, but do you guys know of any strains that have heavy body highs, where I'm from all I can really get ahold of are hazes and every now and again I get a little fidgety and a tad paranoid off of those...have any recommendations?? Id prefer to grow something like that for my first, with a strong physical high.

iv never used led, but all the reports iv heard basically say they work ok but they arent as good as traditional HID yet. i get fidgety on sativas as well, try some Grandaddy Purple, any kush, northern lights, church, and hash plant hybrids

I saw some awesome bud in HT that was grown using LED. Focusing on the 660nm wavelength. So many trichs you can't see green underneath. Weight was lacking, but quality was amazing. I plan to try supplementing HPS with LED when I can afford to.

i grew a clone outdoors a few years ago, nice relaxing high. it had a wonderful relaxing couch lock without making you too sleepy.

Do you have any experience with Church? I saw a video on youtube from Greenhouse giving a week by week on it, it looked like real good stuff.
