First Time With The Outdoor's. Need Advice

I have recently found a good spot and started getting it ready. I have dug ten holes and am about to put chicken wire all around it. I know nothing really about growing outdoors and need advice as to what I'm up against. I plan on planting my plants watering them when I first do and then leaving them for a month at a time before I check them. Will this be ok or is there other things I need to do?

Chicken wire might make it easily visable to other wandering around...if ur worried bout deer eatin it piss all around ur plant deer dont go around human sents...um leavin em for a month u will most likely come back to em dead(from starving or bugs or something dumb).and honestly your have to be retarded if u cant grow outside its easy as fuck i doubt ull have trouble. i usually check on em everyday and i see if the soil is really dry if it is then water that beast.i usually water mine once every 2 days:) good luck tho

Yea i figured its easy as fuck to grow out there just don't want to have to check them all the time cause I'm scared to keep walking back and forth to my spot. I need to also know how tall or whats a good height to put them outdoor's.

12" is a good height to transplant them. And you'll definitely need to visit more often than once a month. You'll need to be able to sex and water and probably give nutrients.

Growing outdoors isnt to bad. But you will need to check on them once a week atleast. If it dosnt rain for 3-4 days I would deffently reccommned going back there and giving them a drink.

anywhere over 7-8 inches is good enough to transplant them outside.

Are you goign to be filling the holes with store bought soil? If so what brand?

i would recommend you put your plants in containers. This is what i did: I bought 4 inch drainage ducting (plastic tubing about $1 a foot) i cut the ducting into 1 foot lengths and wrapped the bottom in burlap for drainage. Filled the tubes with dirt nearly to the top. I veg them in these outdoors until the roots are busting out the bottoms. THen i trim the roots for a few weeks so the rootball goes nuts. I have a theory that the plants dont need wide containers for the upper portion of their roots. They seem to ball out at when they get a little larger. Once they are vegged ill put the tubing on top of 5 gallon bags so they have plenty of vertical room to grow down into and room to grow out. (if your going to dig holes its a bitch and you cant move your plants. You will want to dig holes at least two to three feet deep and put in good soil) By doing a pyramid style i save on soil, and when i water the plants from the top of the tube the water runs straight down the roots ensuring they get plenty of nutes with minimum watering. Also i tape the top of the tubing with copper tape. its expensive so the 4 inch tubing isnt too bad. The tubing is also ribbed so it holds the soil well.

PS make sure you put them in shade the first week when you bring them outside. I didnt and most my leaves turned white- i saved them but they were severely shocked. the other major problem i had was slugs. copper tape will help but slug bait and ice cream salt sprinkled heavily around the grow area will solve the problem. I watered them every 3 days unless it rained.

pps if you dont want to water that often you should look into a wick system. You could put a five gallon under your dirt five gallon and wick water/nute solution into your dirt. If your scared of being caught just carry a camera and a birdguide with you when you go. make sure all your supplies are hidden nearby in the bushes. You might also invest in a motion camera so you can do some counter intel. Rippers will often let you do all the work and then come in whenever they want. I got jacked learned my lesson.

ye im gunna start an outdoor grow this spring
so when shuld u put the plants in the ground?
like dusk so they get a time to re-establishe them selves?
and do u have to put em in the shade for the first week
cuz when I grow herbs indoors i just put them in the sun for a few hours and then put them inside for a few hours and keep doing this for a few days
