Shit, ask here and one will truly receive! Thank you all so much you've made the world of difference! I've kept updated with these posts and just been cross referencing with the rest of the forum and internet and applying it in practice the last few days. Already looking 10x better! Will do an update in the next few days with images.
NKV,
Just some spectrum thoughts. It's getting very complicated these days deciding on spectra. To complicate things some people are using hps (red spectrum) during veg to lengthen internode spacing...the idea being that the plant can fit more bud on with longer bud spacing. And to further complicate things...strong blue lights (6000 to 8000) are thrown in as finishing lights last two weeks. - I have a Lumigrow 650...it's a well thought out light but is still a blurple with adjustments. White, blue and red knobs. This is what Lumigrow says about adjusting spectra. - Can't post links yet - NKV
JD Mate... Holy shit this is exactly what I was after, different light but calculations are at least roughly convertible. So true that it's become so complicated lol so much experimentation and realizations in the scenes and science moving like lighting these days. Interesting though, as I guess in a perfectly controlled environment if one knew how much energy specific genetics needed to create x mass, one could use the perfect dash of hps to elongate the genetics to the level in which it can create max yield. Really interesting about the blue though haha that's a spanner in the mix, can't get ahead of myself lol. How'd you like the Lumigrow though? Have you worked with any other lighting types in the same setup or with same genetics? As agreed it does look well thought out! But anyway, in applying this information, I've come to using an equal 50% blue and white and 25% red. This seems to have created a little more upwards growth as the babies were almost a little to stacked previously.
But yes! Watering daily with coco has definitely been the main difference i think, they're looking a deeper green, getting a bit taller and showing a much faster rate of growth.
i would move your light away a little bit. when your plants are stressed, less light and less nutes reduces the amount they have to work and they can focus on recovering from ailments. once your leaf issues are gone you can try moving the light a bit closer again.
i have my seedlings under 100w of light about 24" away.
This has also been really important, the fox-tailing i think it's referred to, has not completely gone away on the babies it was affecting; But the new growth is basically flat, I've only moved it a little so it's 64cm—But this with the spectrum change has made a significant difference! As yeah you're definitely right, can't just be blasting them with nutes or light when they're weak, they're like us, we need to rest not exercise and strengthen ourselves when we come under the weather!
Yes, I use beneficial microbes every week. I use Recharge. Whenever I top or transplant etc.,I try to keep it near my weekly microbe application. This helps them with stress a bit. It works WONDERS. I also use enzymes to keep the rootzone clean. I use SLF-100.
Im running some mimosa and a las vegas triangle kush. Im not sure on the actual genetics so sorry. I grew the mimosa out already before and she doesnt stay bushy same with the lvtk. I topped them early at the 4th node to try and get them squat and bushy, hopefully.
Legend, appreciate the info—Do you know any other products that are basically beneficial microbes, and do they need to be specific for coco? I'll look into it but just wondering whereabouts to look or what to look for? As never seen recharge in my hemisphere, nor SLF-100 but it looks amazing! So going to be finding out how to acquire. Mmmm they sound tasty though!
I've been watering daily and have changed my feed, tap water started on .1 EC (60 PPM 500 - 80 PPM 700) then added 4ml of cal/mag till it was at .3 EC (150 PPM 500 - 210 PPM 700) then mixed with 20ml canna a+b, 20ml rhiz, and 24ml cannazym. This was in 10L and produced EC that was 1.9 so added another 2/3 litres to bring EC to 1.3 (640 PPM 500 - 960 PPM 700) then used just under 1ml ph down to bring to 5.7. Does this sound suitable? Or would you change this in anyway? Water temp is around 21c.
Also on another note I’ve removed air pump from my reservoir and put in a water pump that pumps the water from the bottom to top once every hour and a half for a minute just to move it around a bit, as realized drawing oxygen/bacteria in is not what I want.
Cheers everyone, again thank you so much, what would i do without you... Fail, and try, try, try again.
