First time with caterpillar issues!

It sure looks like caterpillars are munching on my leaves, but I can’t find one of those buggers! Seems like if I’m really looking hard enough I’d find some. 33B9DE0E-30A4-456D-B566-A35A9C8B3605.jpeg

Is this caterpillar damage? I’ve been growing for 15 years and have not had this issue. I am living in a different are now.

And the biggest, tallest best colas always get hit. I’ve grown for past three summers here in SoCal, and my best buds have always had some level of caterpillars and bud rot. The moths like the huge colas, too! First summer I lost about 8 oz ....about 25%. Next year, was more diligent and used Monterey BT (late) and lost about 3oz. Last year, was super diligent, killed moths, used Monterey BT early, and lost only about 1.5 oz out of a yield of 42oz. Always an issue here in hot humid summers, but if you are diligent, you can limit the damage and loss quite a bit.

If you have a problem with worms, then you need predatory wasps. The easiest way to attract them is to grow flowers that they like, much like companion planting. If it's grasshoppers, you need birds or spiders.
