First time use to auto-flowering seeds

Hi all, this my first time using auto-flowering seeds and I need some advice. The seeds have just germinated and been transferred to pots under a small LED array. How big do they need to grow before I put them under the 400W HPS I normally use? It produces a lot of heat and light and I don't want to damage them by putting them under too early. They're White Widow strain. Any help would be appreciated...

Turn the light on and keep it a good distance. Heat is your only real issue here after there are any leaves for photosynthesis. I mean at a distance too. Keep air moving over and around the plants at all times.

from day 1, just keep it 2ft or more from the plant so its not fried. also start with a low light setting if its a digital and maybe just 12/12 for the first couple of days .

Thanks for replying, I'm 40 days into the 70 day grow of these auto flowering seeds and I'm far from happy with what I'm seeing. I've grown for over 20 years using regular seeds with consistently great results. !4 of the 15 White Widow seeds germinated and after the 4th set of leaves I put them under my 400w HPS. With 4 weeks to go I have about 4/5 decent looking plants. One of the rest started diminishing in size ages ago and had be discarded, 3 others followed suit 3 weeks ago. The rest are small and rather pathetic looking. I estimate a yield of about 2oz bud, if I'm lucky! Very poor from 15 seeds. The few that are ok, are very healthy, I can only assume that the problem lies with the seeds. Don't think I'll waste time and money on auto flowering seeds again...

You're right, lots of people here have had success, did all the things I've been doing for 20+ years, What's really puzzling is that 5 of the 15 plants look great, can't figure it out...

Hotrod is correct heat is your main issue, or have a small fan there to remove the heat

Thanks, great post and a really interesting blog, reading it, I may have gotten one or two things wrong, things that are specific to auto flowering seeds, will get what I can out of this lot and go again in the New Year...

After the hairs have stated to grow and tiny flowers begin to develop, roughly how long do auto flowering plants have left to harvest time? any advice would be appreciated...
