First time setup

I am thinking of starting indoor setup for the first time. My buddy is moving and wants to sell me his lights. He has 400w agrosun(sp) both metal halide and HPS. Also a 1000w HPS. Plus a few CFL lights and a 4ft carbon filter(he says is top of the line, don't know specifics). He is asking 900. Is this a good price? Is this more than I need as a beginner? Will this all fit in my 6x4x9(tall)ft closet?

Well 6x4x9 closet will need to be divided into two sections veg and flower.
so lets say flower is 4x4 and veg/clone is 2x4 a 600 watt would be fine for flower and a couple shop lights for veg, the 4 foot ones would be fine in the veg room.

If you go 1000w in that small area be sure you get air cooled reflector like a cool tube. Its gonna generate a lot of heat, at least 10° I think the 4 ft carbon filter is a waste of money. but thats just me.

You could get a 600 w setup with air cooled reflector on ebay for around $300 shop lights are what $10 a piece. for that size area a 200 CFM fan would be fine. you could get two 6" duct booster fans at 160 CFM for about $40 a piece and there is your setup for around $400

Sounds like his setup would be better for a larger space.

I vent a 2x4 space with 80 CFM. Works fine. Check out my journals if you like.
