First Time Scrog Attempt

hey friends, I've been growing on and off for about 2-3 years now, have just been doing coco/soil grows using basic LST and topping/fimming techniques. I've been staring in awe at pictures of scrog grows for a while so I decided to build myself a net and give it a go in hopes of pulling a greater yield than my past grows. I know my light(s) and space are a big limiting factor for yield, but my best plant to date pulling maybe 40g dried flower, I have been keen on picking that up somewhat..

I'm doing this in a 2x4 tent, 400w Mars Hydro LED from 2016 (blurple, has been my only light until recently, part of my low yields i know) and have added one of those cheap "1800w" (equiv, havn't done the math on actual draw I know it'll probably be under 200w) COB leds off amazon I picked up this year to try out. They're sitting ~12" above the canopy since flipping to 12/12, 18-24" prior.

I didn't weave the stems, the method I followed was letting a stem grow up through a square a couple inches before bending it down and back into an adjacent, further square. I stopped re-locating heads at about the 2-week mark into flowering, unsure how much more they were going to stretch. I'm at about week 3 into flower now, things are looking pretty nice in there..

Don't think I have any questions at this moment but I'd love to know if anyone can see anything they'd either suggest improving on or otherwise constructive. The grow has been going pretty smoothly so far, as far as I can tell.

Your Plants look awesome! Well Done!

Only advice I can give now is:

I think you should do a Leaf Defoliate right now, maybe not as much as i did, but here is my example

You have a lot of shading from the fan leaves, do a leaf defoliate top down. leaving your lower most fan leaves as a solar panel at 70-80 percentage cover. The largest leaves are removed first. Top Down

Once 80%-90% of the fan leaves are removed from the top down, you will be really surprised how fast the bud supporting leaves grow as the plant directs its energy into them. This will result in a hugely increased yield and much higher quality bud over all, by defoliating the fan leaves now you will increase your yield by 33%, also now is a good time to use some potassium silicate if your not already doing so.

basically remove fan leaves, those leaves with a leaf stem above your netting level. access the fan leaves below the netting and remove any yellowing leaves or areas that are too dense, as to make sure there is ample air flow and ample filtered light to the growing media.

As it appears you have now flipped to 12/12 flowering mode? a defoliation now will reduce stretch, and keep your inter nodes tight for bloom

RangisTaxi - Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I decided to defoliate to let some air and light start creeping through the canopy. In almost a couple weeks time it's grown back so much you can barely tell it was done and had I not, probably would be out of control in there. Actually thinking it may not be a bad idea to give it another round. I'll probably wait a week and see how much they're competing for space.

I've replaced my Mars Hydro 400 with a 240w v3 Quantum Board from China, I think the girls really like it it's a great light.

We're about half way through Week 4 of 12/12 right now... Just got my hands on some Advanced Nutrients Big Bud Coco & Overdrive to add to my current noots to see if I can't fatten these babies up nicely over the next month.

RangisTaxi - Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I was a little apprehensive about defoliating on this grow (I've always done it in the past) as a lot of research I've done as returned some consistent statements, at least where tests were done in close to or using a scientific approach (ie use of test groups, repeatable studies, etc..) that it really doesn't help and in fact may even hinder a plants growth/production. Recently and more specifically, some of the presentations available on youtube from Dr. Bruce Bugbee from Apogee Instruments - they've got some great, science-backed information up there for anyone interested - VIDEO LINK

That being said.. I decided to go for it and defoliated quite heavily to let some air and light start creeping through the canopy. I think with the size of the space I'm working with it still might be a good move. In almost a couple weeks time it's grown back so much you can barely tell it was done and had I not, probably would be out of control in there.
