Hello all, first time grower here building a two chamber ebb & flow system. I have a 4' X 2' tray in both a vegetative chamber and a flowering chamber.
While vegging I will be growing my plants in 4" rockwool cubes. Will I need to use another medium to cover the roots and if so, will this make it harder to move the plants to the flower chamber? I don't want my tray full of dead roots if they become tangled. Can I just veg my plants in the 4" rockwool cubes alone?
I visited my local hydro store and was told to move my plants to flower when they get to be 6" and no higher. They said my plants would be out of control if I grew them any higher while vegging. I have about 5' of growing height in each chamber. Is 6" a good height?
Also, watering. I was told to flood my tray to cover only about 1/4" of the rockwool cube bottoms as they will absorb the water. How many times should I flood the tray? Is that something which I should determine on my own depending on how wet the rockwool gets?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
