First time hydro issues

Hi guys,

It's my first time growing and I have a friend helping me but I'm getting the feeling he either might not have the time for input or not be as knowledgable as I believed. Either way, I have a total of 6 plants I'll list more details of how they are setup.

4 plants are in 2x2 rockwool cubes week 3. I have a drip setup with timers but have been manually watering them with 1/4 solution of heavy 16 veg a and b.

The other plant is in the same setup but I've transplanted to a larger rockwool. I'm watering them all 1 0r twice a day with the nutrient solution.

I am lighting them with 2 bulls, the long ones. They both say 32watt 6500k. Not sure what that means. On a timer for 18 hours

I also have a final plant that is in soil. I didn't start this one, he brought over and said it wasn't being treated right and have been trying to get it to grow but no luck.

Honestly I'm really lost, I've been doing a lot of extensive reading but not sure which direction to go.

I'd appreciate your responses even if you laugh haha! Anyways a new female growers here :D I hope I can figure this out.

I'm on my phone but will post pics in a sec

Oh I almost forgot, I'm using regular tap water, leaving it out to remove chlorine. The ph is always between 5.6 and 6.0. I have an oscillating fan directly pointed towards them and the temp is 85

Hello and welcome to RIU.. the whole tap water is a myth dont let people tell you other wise.. you dont need to let it sit out to evaporate the chlorine .. doesnt hurt to though

6500k is good for veg and can be used for flower but i suggest getting some 2500k-3000k for flowering

the plant your having trouble with should recover.. its probably just in shock...

6 plants and only 64W? You need a shit-load more light, at least 250W (400w would be better).

Since you really need more light, I strongly recommend looking at getting a HPS for flowering.

Good luck

Hi,

Thanks for your input. I posted some pictures so you guys could see what I was referring to. As you can see the one in soil does not look good. It hasnt grown at all. I do have 2 more lights that I can put up, would that suffice? Also I took a close up picture of the smallest one so you can take a look at the stem. It looks like its discolored and I think its dying. Dont they look small for three weeks? I've seen other pictures posted at three weeks and they look much more developed. I hope the picture help.

How often should I be watering them? Do they need more nutrients? less?

Well looking at the pictures 2 & 3 specifically, they look all right, they're young and don't need a ton of nutes at this point, if anything make sure they're getting a little Cal-Mag and let them almost dry out between watering, if it was me I would get them all in the same larger gro-dan blocks this way your watering will be more uniform and you'll have a little insurance if you forget to water for a day as they hold water pretty good. In the mean time cut up some plastic squares and cover the tops of the cubes(with a hole in the center and a slit to the centre hole to make it easy to get on and off), this will keep moisture from escaping and mold/algae from forming on the top. Also, for the moment you have ample light for those little guys but start shopping for something bigger (HPS) for your flowering stage. As for you extra plant, be careful bringing strangers into your garden as you never know what they may be carrying....
