First time Hydro Closet

Hey everyone,

New to rollitup and thought I would take a minute to share what Ive got goin on.
I was given a flood and drain system from a buddy and decided to set it up in a spare closet. Closet is 8ft tall, 7ft wide, 4ft deep.

Framed a basic floor and ceiling.

Using an in-line 6" can fan for now. When summer rolls back around and I add filtration, I will probably have to upgrade.

I originally used panda poly for the ceiling on the veg side, but Ive since changed it to osb. So the entire ceiling is osb now.

Botanicare ebb&flow.

Divided the space with panda poly to make it easier for future changes. For now its setup as a flower chamber and a veg chamber, but things might change down the road.

Built frames to attach poly doors to.

6" Intake port.

Flowering door installed.

6" Exhaust to attic.

400w ballast up in the attic.

15amp circuit wired in the attic. 12/12 Light timer installed.

Thats it for the build as of now, but I will get back on in a bit and post a few pics of what ive got growin. Nothin special, just some bagseeders.

Lookin forward to lingering around here and learning. Thanx for checkin my shyt out.

Sod me fella, that's a lovely cabinet, very vyer clean construction, also a fantastic size. My closets are only about 55cm deep so a bit of a pain.

Wow. Thanx for all the nice comments guys, I appreciate it. Im open to any ideas and constructive criticism.

"You should make an Air Floor and have a lightrail in there.."

Not familiar with an Air Floor. Please explain.

Back to the picture posting, heres what ive got growin so far.

The plant on the left was started the 1st of the month and the one to the right was started a week later.

These pictures were taken yesterday. So this is the most recent growth.

Just thought I would mention, Im using Cutting Edge nutrients. And im running metal halide 24/0.

Well thats all. Till next time, Legalize it!

i noticed something, you should get some yo-yo light hangers, chains are a pain to adjust, the yo-yo you just pull it down without hassel. now you can pull that light down at anytime nice and close to them babies and you can lift it up out of your way when tending to your babies, trust me they will love you for it

As far as i'm aware, an air floor is basically a wooden floor with many holes drilled in it at set spaces, air is then pumped through these holes by one method or another to allow the stomata on the bottom of the plant (come on GCSE biology, stick with me!) to get the fresh air wafted straight into it, instead of using a fan to blow air across the faces of the leaves. Never read up on it's performance benefits, or whterh it is all logical beneficial, but not so in practice.

Thanx Jackyl. A light rail and yo yo's are on the list. Just waiting to catch back up in the fund-age area. I sunk $800 plus into this so far. Including the 6500 btu window a/c I installed.

Fans work fine for me, I don't think I'd mess with an air floor unless it had some really super results. And the yo-yo pull downs for lights are a bit on the expensive side for small grows. At the local hydro shop they're something like 18 dollars a throw.

Im probably gonna wait till I can grab a set off of craigslist. I really only need them to give me more room while doing maintenance.

Just spent a good part of the day educating myself a bit more about the history of marijuana and the politics surrounding its current proabition.

All Ive got to say is, If your not already educated in these areas, please do so. Living in California these last few years has really opened my eyes to these topics, and has my attention in regards to 215 and prop19.

A few good videos I recommend.

Anyway, blazed a joint and ready for an update.:bigjoint:

Organized an area for supplies.

Tapped into the 15amp circuit I wired into the attic and added power outlets in both the flowering and veg chambers.

Flowering

Veg

These are the cfl fixtures I devised for vegging. Running 4 23w 6500k 1600lumen.

First deep water test run. I started this in my bathroom under lights that were too far away, thats the reason for the long stem and bracing.

Swapped out the sun system hood for this basic one. Still running the 400w sun system ballast with hps and mh conversion bulbs.

I installed this a/c at kind of the wrong time of the year, but thankfully I did because we've been having a heat wave that has been getting up in the 100s. Thing is definitely already getting its use.

Yesterdays 107 high caused a brown out, giving me the opportunity to break out the old generator for its first grow opp back up. Worked great powering everything, including the a/c.

Well looks like thats it for now. Let me know what ya think. I will rep. the worthy.

Oooo.... And here is one of my hydro closet tools I hope I will never have to use. Just one of the shinny stainless steel gems in my collection of many. So dont get any ideas. lol

Who do I have to get high to get some posts around here? lol
386visits to 14post:confused: Not trippin, would just like some input, ideas, etc...

A few ideas ive been tossing around are:

Mylar lined cardboard panels to hang around the plants. Thinking im gonna use a bit of spray adhesive and attach the mylar to cardboard panels, then tack the panels up on the walls.

Plan to caulk the rest of the gaps and paint all remaining bare wood white.

Ballast has been running a bit hot up in the attic. So I think I will remove the cover and install a few pc fans.

More pics for the all ganja growers.
Had to add more insulation around the window unit. Light was escaping through the accordion panels on the sides.

Roots are taking off in my DWC.

Day 29 on the larger plant. The other is around 7 days behind it. Both are bagseeders.

Been running MH 24/0 and just switched to HPS 24/0. And I plan to 12 and 12 it soon. Not sure though, the larger one is lookin like a male already.

I also recently switched from 3/30 min watering cycles in 24hrs to 4/30 min watering cycles in 24hrs.

Well thats it again. More updates coming soon. Till then, a few words of wisdom.

The world is a dangerous place to live - not because of the people who are evil but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

To all my foreign readers, sorry for favoring Americanism in my topics. One Love.

well i must say, looks like u have an awesome setup there mate, quite possibly the reason behind why you have had hardly any replys could be because you have an awesome setup, without any real need for advice.

Hope your larger plant isnt a boy.
