thanks for all the reply's guys. i hope to get a nice ballast kit and reflector. also money is limited so if i kept the hps on the entire grow but had a couple blue specrum cfl's in there during veg. would this be effective? would it be enough? ... i also thought hps was a full spectrum bulb still giving off some blue?

sorry but your equation looks to be completely wrong.
wattage x time x kilowatt per hour / 1000 = cost. thats the equation i got from my electrician friend. i couldnt swear to it but hes been an electrician for 25 years and he's one of the best i've ever worked beside

lol looks about right to me. i also have a friend whos an electrician. but can anyone answere my question i posted just befor this one? plz? lol

if your gonna go with a hps go with the best...hortilux is an amazing bulb and u will be happy with the results..other bulbs can let off way too much heat where the hortlux doesnt and has way higher spectrum levels then ones at home depot or your average hardware store

very true but the lumalux bulbs will have to do for now as i will be spending alot on the ballast and light fixture... can anyone answere this? if i kept the hps on the entire grow but had a couple blue specrum cfl's in there during veg. would this be effective? would it be enough? or should i use blue specrum cfl's exclusivly for veg than flip to the hps in flower??

Yes u can use the hps an cfl's to veg make sure u use 6500k or "daylight" cfls and yes u can use the all through flowering too its actually good to use a little bit of blue spectrum in the flowering stage.

so i have this plant that has been growing and im 2 weeks into flowering. plant is very bushy, lots of leafs, internodes/nodes and is all around healthy. there are like a max of 8 or 9 small white hairs and thats it. everytime i think bud is sprouting.. its just more leaf. ive never seen such slow growth. by now the plant should have established some flower. correct? im giving proper nutes n everything. pics of the plant, closet space and cfl bulb specs can be found here https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/277074-need-some-advise-help-plz-3.html now should i just give up on this plant? chop it. and concentrate on my other 6 seedlings? veg them for about a month just in time to save a solid $300 to buy a ballast n fixture for my 400watt hps lumalux lights than just switch over n wach the difference in cfl vs hps? would this be a wise choice? i dont think the plant is doing much. my seeedlings are in 12/12 light too cuz i dont wana move my plant to a dark room every time (pain in the ass) help much apprec
