First Time Growing - Help Please!

Hello, well this is my first time growing a plant. I let it germinate for 5 days then planted it on May 1st, so it's a little over a month old. It used to catch some sunlight rays in the attic but recently i moved it into a little cupboard i fixed up and use artificial light now. I'm pretty sure the plant is a female, and i'm currently using the light-cycle 18 on, 6 off. I usually just give the plant water every 2 days.

If anyone could give me advice based on what i should be doing in terms of the light cycles, or anything else, please help! I'd very much like my first plant to be a success, i've been waiting a while now! Also, is it suggested i change my pot to a larger one?

thank you very much!
Sebastian

ps this plant is for medicinal purposes.

Usually you have to begin a 12 on/12 off light cycle before you can determine if it's female. The plant looks really good by the way. Concerning the size of the pot, that depends on how big you want the plant to be. If you don't want it to be really tall, you should start the 12/12 light cycle now and flower it. It will be three times as big as it is now when it's finished flowering. If you want it to continue growing before you flower, you can transplant into a larger pot now.

For Medicinal purposes only.... I would transplant to a 4-5 gallon if I am judging the size right. Your plant looks very healthy, and usually, after your nodes are alternating you will be able to see the preflowers, which will be 2 hairs coming out of a teardrop shape at the node. Most will show this during 18/6, but Illuminati is right, sex will definitely show during 12/12.
If I were you, I would take some cuttings of some lower branches to make clones for future plants. It is very easy, and many how to's on the internet. I would do this now, much before you flower at 12/12, so the plant can recover before flowering. I often will "top" my plants, where I cut off the top of the plant about 2-4 nodes down and use that for one of my clones. This forces the plant to essentially split into 2 main branches, and also will improve growth below the place that you topped it. I will only do this 1-2 times per plant, but it will increase your yield if done right.
Nutrients and soil- Are you using organic only? Depending on your budget, this can improve your taste according to some. You can find botanicare Vegetative formula (use during 18/6) and flowering formula (use during 12/12) at most urban agriculture shops. Also other nutes like CalMag, and other bud boosters can help your yield.
Sorry about writing the book here, your plant looks great, and you are off to a great start! Keep up the good work!
