First time grower

Hey everybody. This is my first closet grow. I got a 1000W mh light for veg and a 600W HPS light for flowering and the closet is wrapped in mylar. i also have ff grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom, and gh flora micro, flora bloom, and flora grow. ive had one plant vegging for about 2months now and is about 3ft tall. im going to start flowering her today or tomorrow. my problem is my closet has a lot of light leaking into it so i was thinking of taking some black plastic garbage bags and covering the plant during the dark hours. will this work for me or should i try to seal my closet instead of covering the plant. thanks

First, I would use the the 1000w for flower, not Veg. Second, you should try and seal the room. I think you might run into problems covering the plant. To much unnessary contact with your plant may cause stress. How hot is it in the closet? It might get your plant hotter underneath the plastic. I dont see that working very well.

The 1000W mh im using for the veg state and i got the 600W hps light for flowering. my closet gets real hot, as in i almost burnt the plant once. i have a box fan in the closet and i just got an ac unit for the entire room which helps keep the temps down. and if i do cover the plant it would only be when the lights are off. not while its still on.

Seal the closet.

im renting out the apartment so i cant get too crazy but do you think some duct tape over the area where the light leaks is enough or is there something else i could do?

Also im planning on going into the flowering stage in the next day or two. is there anything else i should do before i go to flower besides setting up the hps light. thanks for all the help by the way.

weatherstripping could help with the light leaks, as for any ideas before flowering. maybe flush, seen lots of people do it at end of veg. i didnt but i think i will next time.

Stand inside the closet and tape a ripped black trashbag above the door frame to make kind of a hanging curtain.

More expensive option would be to get a more sturdy like car cover or something and velcro it along the inside frame. Just my 2 cents.

Use what ever. Get in the closet and look for leaks. Ya may just have to plug a few.

I am renting as well and have cut vent holes in drywall and everything... just a new patch of drywall + putty + paint fixes that.... however if you don't want to do any damage take a 1x4 cut to width of exit take duct tape fold it half now you can take either black trash bags or black painter's tarp and tape it on sides and to 1x4 on floor.... and should seal it up well for you.

so what do you guys think of my grow so far? I used a 1000W MH bulb for vegging for about 6-8weeks and i just started flowering it a week ago. i have the gh flora series nutes and also ff grow big, tiger bloom, and big bloom which ive used alternating weeks. the pic is a little outdated and sorry for the crappy cellphone pic.

Its growing . Looks like ya pluged the light leaks.

not really. i went into the closet and looked for leaks and there were none. i made out i guess. i just started flowering it last week and im almost positive i see the white pistils at the nodes. im stoked
