First time grower with CFLS

Hey yall,

Im a first time grower and i was going to use the strain blue cheese :leaf::leaf::leaf:

1)I wanted to know if a 6500k cfl or a 5500k cfl is better because i saw the chart and to me it appeared to be that 5500k is better for more activity, I want to start of my seed in vegging mode and hopefully it will grow i really do NOT want it to die...I would appreciate some help :) also if i use 5500k would a 115 watt be okay because 6500k cfls are really expensive...Right now i have really bad cfls i have two 18 watt 6500k cfls right now and i really dont think that will cut it as ive heared...:wall:

2)I also have a second question, so the strain blue cheese is 100% indica and what i saw was that it was an indoor strain...Now what i wanted to do is start of the plant indoor till it grows to an efficient height then move it and start growing it outdoor (bear in mind that im growing in florida) i wanted to know if this is okay seeing as it is an indoor strain

3)Could i get some tips about how to make my plant hit a higher yeild please :)

thank you guys in advance, i appreciate your help as i am a newbie:weed:

You should have no problems by flowering an indica outside, remember that we are the ones that are making weird shit by creating an environment out of nowhere, plants belong to the outside so indica, saliva or ruderdalis has to be fine outside. HOWEVER, when you consider going outside you need to keep in mind bugs and stuff like that, specially in florida. Have you considered doing the whole process outside? bulbs, no matter how good they are, they cannot be compared to sunlight so if you if I didn't have a reason to hide my grow I would definitely go outdoors.

A higher yield will depend on many things, so its hard to just write tips about that. People that get high yields usually has a lot of experience and/or have read a lot. Have you thought about nutrients at all?

5500k will do just fine for veg. Instead of using fewer high wattage CFLs, use more lower wattage CFLs. I have always liked the 23 watters.

Indoor strains will do just fine outdoors. Just make sure you don't shock the plant when switching it to outside. Make sure its not a drastic difference in climates.

For higher yields, look into Low Stress Training, or ScrOG.

Also, do you really want a good advice? post pictures, the people in this forum will give advice about almost whatever you need by just looking at your set up and plant. Sorry for the many posts but I am writing as it comes to my mind. Hope it helps! :weed: Cheers

you could find these answers in many threads you didnt bother to look over buuut im going to help you out anyways. just keep in mind next time look around first.

1 - honestly, grab one of each bud :) in my eyes its the more parts of the spectrum you have, the better! and your going to need them to be a higher watt then that, it will cost you a bit, im using a led flood light i got from lowes as well a cfl flood light and my plants are doing just fine. cost me under 60 in total 9includes the fixture i got for it.

2 - bro. im in florida as well. and what ever yo udo. DO NOT move it outside. florida police are way to on point they will find, fast. keep it indoors, indica doesnt grow to tall its perfect for indoors, and its 100% indica!! plus you have less worry about bugs, and dependingo n where you are in florida, its gunna get a bit cold this year as well as the rain that brings the cold weather. indoors is much safer and will give you a better yield (in my opinion)

3 - after you have 3 or 4 nods on your plant, cut it at the top, it lets it grow more strong budding spots, you can find more info on this all over the internet. just google that exact question and you will get many more detailed answers without one of us having to sit here and type it again. also, the more lights the better! but then you must be carefull about the lights burning your plants, you must control the temp. also give it the proper fertalizer, you can also find more info on that around this website or on google, there are plenty of threads on here tho so just take a look around! good luck bro!

23 watt CFL's are just fine. I use 8 23 watt CFL's with a DIY reflector for 4 girls I have in SOLO cups flowering and they are doing great. I also have 6 23 watt CFL's (maybe they are 32 watt I don't remember) for my big girl in flowering and she looks amazing. So 23 or 32 watt CFL's will be just fine. How many plants are you looking to grow?

best bet with what i got is Y adapters plug sockets and light clamps !!!!!!! as well as power strips@!@!
that could work, or you could get what i have, getting two would be best i have 2 diff kinda for more spectrum, i have two growing and they are looking great, adding another tomorrow. i have a large led flood light and a CFL flood light. and the one im adding is a HID.

To get started you can use a simple power supply strip, a few Y splitters and bulb socket adapters. You can add lights as you go which makes it nice. I'm using mine for my tomato plant as I have a few HPS lights for other stuff to grow.

plugin socket adapter

All you need is the single items, those links are bulk or kits. Everything can be found at walmart. I suggest lowes or home depot for the cfl bulbs as they have more selection and are generally cheaper. They also have the larger bulbs.

The socket plugin adapter is .99 and Y splitters are about 2.50. Power strips are rated high enough that you can pretty much fill it up with bulbs if you have the space. When you upgrade just add more power strips.

The guy that said not to grow outside in FL is correct. I'd rather have a smaller plant and lack of sun than get busted in a state with super hefty penalties.

Don't grow outside and I would strongly advise against going to any hydroponic shops in FL as well.

A few years back, the cops were having a field day busting and harassing many, many people because they were collecting license plate numbers en masse. This is something that is probably still going on.
I feel ordering online from ebay etc is much safer.
